🌷🌼🦄 Happy New Year! ✨ 🌹

Hello hello hello and Happy New Year, everyone! I hope this post finds you well. For years and years, I have been wanting to send out nengajo (Japanese new year greeting cards) or even design my own, so I made up my mind that 2026 is the year! I know this post didn't go up on New Years Day, but I'm a big believer in the phrase "Better late than never." 💕

For this design, I decided to try to make a unicorn to celebrate Year of the Horse! It was a fun opportunity to try harnessing my love for medieval tapestries and the beautiful ways they depict nature and creatures. It was so fun to paint and fill the background with all sorts of different flowers!

Anyways! VLMR: Happy New Year! Do you have any New Years goals or wishes for 2026?

Some of mine are to create more (no matter the result lol) and to continue to share regularly online. To be honest, I've been struggling a bit with art and the idea of art the last couple of years. I love, love, love the process of making art, sharing it with others, and the art community ! But the last couple of years, I've been having a hard time with a mixture of art block, shyness, busyness, and discouragement related to the proliferation of generative AI. For a long time I wasn't sure how to move forward with my own art journey.

After a lot of consideration and conversations with friends, I've been thinking more and more about how important it is to CONTINUE to create and share artwork from the heart. I am so thankful for all of the artists, actors, directors, musicians, etc. around the world who hone and share their craft, so I would like to gladly continue to participate as well. I want to live in a world filled with expressions of the heart, so I want to contribute too! 💕

Long story short, from now on I want to challenge myself to share art instead of keeping it to myself lol. After years of inactivity, here is what you can expect from Seahorsespaghetti moving forward:

I had a moment to breathe. To do something self indulgent. Wanted to share it with the good people of tumblr who shared their RadioApple art with me.

Fanart for the sake of fanart. Got into Elf Quest. Someone gave me an iPad. Procreate is a dream. Tried to do something more like my old style.

The “Brother” Illustration to my friend’s [Sans illustration]

When @chibiluka decided she wanted to paint her Sans sketch I decided I’d make a matching Papy!  A LOT of thought and effort went into this to make Papyrus matched in composition, setting, and medium. Her San’s set the stage for this piece, so a lot of the awesomeness is thanks to Chibiluka ;3 It was really interesting and fun to paint these at the same time and collaborating on Skype XD

The fanart and manga art got me wanting to watch this one <3 I was told it might take 3 episodes to really get into the show, but I was teary-eyed and hooked by the end of episode 1. The animation and art is beautiful in this short series too.

I was asked to do the some of the art for San Japan in San Antonio, TX. I was asked to do a Red and White mage in the style I’ve used before. The actual results were beautiful! It was surreal to see my art ALL OVER THE PLACE 0A0 It was used for all the signs in the convention! Amazing experience and I got one of the large Banners that’s around 12′ long X3

Do one thing.

Start there, do ONE thing to help. Take an active role in bettering your little corner of the world by solving One Small Problem, whatever it might be.

It may not fix Everything, but it fixes Something. One less thing is broken. One less task needs doing. One less place is uncared for. One less heart is heavy. One less stomach is empty. One less voice is silent.
