I'm so glad that I'm old enough that I was able to experience my high school years without social media. There is essentially no record of the years when I was at my stupidest, had no ability to resist peer pressure, and good judgement and discernment were alien concepts to me. Nobody can dig up shit I did as an edgy teenager and use it to destroy or embarrass me. The embarrassment comes naturally, with time, as it should be. I am lucky. So lucky, in fact, that I've decided to extend grace to people younger than me who didn't have the luxury of growing up without a permanent and public record being made of their every indiscretion and bad decision.
