asigned bisexual by the cw
there was a time I hoped this would apply to Dean Winchester but as usual spn did something worse and funnier
this is the most realistic queer dialogue ive ever seen
Important context: they’re married to each other.
btw Jewish charity organizations in the USA don’t exist to convert you like Christian charity organizations, they are specifically Jewish because they were likely founded by Jews who were being turned away from other organizations. several Jewish hospitals exist in the US because many Jewish immigrants had degrees but were turned away from other hospitals for being Jewish. so we made our own, lmao. these days most of these organizations are no longer specifically Jewish because job and care discrimination is not as common for us as it used to be. i’m saying this just in case anybody is wary of accepting aid (many Jewish charities set up free food kitchens, for example) from a Jewish charity because of mistreatment by Christian ones, and i think it’s important to understand the difference
The bulk of the work HIAS does these days is in aiding non-Jews.
Your local Jewish Community Center? Anyone can join.
Jewish Family and Children’s Society? They’ll still help you if you reach out for their services and aren’t Jewish.
Ask the Hebrew Free Loan Association for a loan and have no connection to Judaism? Yup, they’ll work with you.
A Jewish food bank? Will feed you, no matter who you are.
And HIAS? My synagogue is working with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society to support a refugee family that is new to our area (we furnished their house, do social stuff with them, and make the phone calls that are hard for ESL folks). The father in the family is literally a pastor.
no this is legitimately very sweet thank you
and to make it even more explicit: Jewish organizations will never try to convert you, because Jews don't proselytize. we aren't recruiting. if you want to become Jewish, you have to seek us out and it's a lot of work. if you don't actively express interest in becoming Jewish, you will not be asked to
Jewish Family Services has branches all over the country, very likely one near you if you’re in the US! They help anyone of any background with things like food, rent, emergency funds, job placements, housing placements, therapy access, and more! And if you don’t need their help, donating to them is a great way to directly help your community
Check if your area has a Hatzalah (Jewish volunteer EMS) branch, especially if you live in the US where an ambulance can be expensive enough that you'd hesitate to call one even if you needed it.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE JEWISH, literally anyone who has a Hatzalah branch in their area can and should have the number handy in case of emergency.
They’re mostly on the east coast and California, but check your area.
I know a lot of people who’ve been in dire situations and didn’t call an ambulance because it’s so expensive, so please check out whether there are mutual aid options in your area (a lot of mosques have free medical stuff so they might have ambulance services too).
there's a hatzalah (also called hatzoloh) branch in toronto!
and one in montréal
Just another WordPress site

BREAKING NEWS: Untranslatable alien language in mysterious extraterrestrial transmission turns out to just be Hungarian
HOUSTON, TX — The field of xenolinguistics was advanced by light years today when NASA engineer Bela Zlavtovakznitwoshtuvokno happened to walk past the laboratory where cryptanalysts were puzzling over the inscrutible message and overheard their mother tongue.
The ninety-five seconds of audio picked up by the SETI Institute’s Allen Telescope Array last October, having originated somewhere beyond the constellation Canis Major, was at first assumed to be random noise, but upon further analysis it appeared to conform to linguistic norms in at least a superficial way, indicating an extraterrestrial origin. Though scientists were at first ecstatic about hearing alien speech, the meaning of the message remained elusive, defying translation by the nation’s top linguists and cryptanalysts.
That is, until yesterday, when Dr. Zlavtovakznitwoshtuvokno–who came to work for NASA after studying mechanical engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics–happened to walk past the xenolinguistics lab on their way to lunch and immediately recognized the Uralic language of their home country.
“I knew at once,” Zlavtovakznitwoshtuvokno told our reporters, “because only human beings can use umlauts like that. I didn’t quite understand it–it was an odd dialect–but the speaker sounded very upset and it had something to do with Tesla automobiles.”
Dr. Zlavtovakznitwoshtuvokno has now been transferred to the project full-time, lending to it such expertise as a cell phone with the Duolingo app on it and an old VHS tape of Sesame Street. Project leaders are managing their expectations, however, with one technician rubbing her temples while declaring, “This really doesn’t make things any easier.”

The LGBTQ community has seen controversy regarding acceptance of different groups (bisexual and transgender individuals have sometimes been marginalized by the larger community), but the term LGBT has been a positive symbol of inclusion and reflects the embrace of different identities and that we’re stronger together and need each other. While there are differences, we all face many of the same challenges from broader society.
In the 1960′s, in wider society the meaning of the word gay transitioned from ‘happy’ or ‘carefree’ to predominantly mean ‘homosexual’ and was an umbrella term that meant anyone who wasn’t cisgender or heterosexual. The community embraced the word ‘gay’ as a mark of pride.
The modern fight for queer rights is considered to have begun with The Stonewall Riots in 1969 and was called the Gay Liberation Movement and the Gay Rights Movement.
The acronym GLB surfaced around this time to also include Lesbian and Bisexual people who felt “gay” wasn’t inclusive of their identities.
Early in the gay rights movement, gay men were largely the ones running the show and there was a focus on men’s issues. Lesbians were unhappy that gay men dominated the leadership and ignored their needs and the feminist fight. As a result, lesbians tended to focus their attention on the Women’s Rights Movement which was happening at the same time. This dominance by gay men was seen as yet one more example of patriarchy and sexism.
In the 1970′s, sexism and homophobia existed in more virulent forms and those biases against lesbians also made it hard for them to find their voices within women’s liberation movements. Betty Friedman, the founder of the National Organization for Women (NOW), commented that lesbians were a “lavender menace” that threatened the political efficacy of the organization and of feminism and many women felt including lesbians was a detriment.
In the 80s and 90s, a huge portion of gay men were suffering from AIDS while the lesbian community was largely unaffected. Lesbians helped gay men with medical care and were a massive part of the activism surrounding the gay community and AIDS. This willingness to support gay men in their time of need sparked a closer, more supportive relationship between both groups, and the gay community became more receptive to feminist ideals and goals.
Approaching the 1990′s it was clear that GLB referred to sexual identity and wasn’t inclusive of gender identity and T should be added, especially since trans activist have long been at the forefront of the community’s fight for rights and acceptance, from Stonewall onward. Some argued that T should not be added, but many gay, lesbian and bisexual people pointed out that they also transgress established gender norms and therefore the GLB acronym should include gender identities and they pushed to include T in the acronym.
GLBT became LGBT as a way to honor the tremendous work the lesbian community did during the AIDS crisis.
Towards the end of the 1990s and into the 2000s, movements took place to add additional letters to the acronym to recognize Intersex, Asexual, Aromantic, Agender, and others. As the acronym grew to LGBTIQ, LGBTQIA, LGBTQIAA, many complained this was becoming unwieldy and started using a ‘+’ to show LGBT aren’t the only identities in the community and this became more common, whether as LGBT+ or LGBTQ+.
In the 2010′s, the process of reclaiming the word “queer” that began in the 1980′s was largely accomplished. In the 2020′s the LGBTQ+ acronym is used less often as Queer is becoming the more common term to represent the community.
My gf is an actual amab cis girl. They wrote male on her birth certificate by mistake
holy shit tell your girlfriend congrats on the fun gender
In an odd inversion, my cis grandfather was marked as female on his DEATH certificate.
I’m male whenever I’m on Brazilian soil because when I applied for a visa, the lady didn’t believe I was a cis woman and put male on my documents even after I complained twice, so I’m also amab (Assigned Male At BrazilianBorder)
my bestie is a cis woman and is amad (assigned male at drivingliscense)
While this is funny this really should highlight to people how deep transphobia runs. It diesn’t matter if you’re cis or trans, strangers in the world will just DECIDE based on apparent visual indicators that simply arent accurate. Cis women are not excempt from harrassment and being accused of being “secretly a man”. All arguments about single-sex spaces crumble when perceptiona of what women SHOULD look like simply arent accurate at all.
And even for simple admin errors, it highlighrs further how much these systems do not care about you. They won’t change your gender on your papers regardless of if you are or aren’t trans. It’s a simple mis-click that could result in you being accused of something like fraud and no one is going to listen to you or take your complaints seriously to fix it before that happens.
Tranaphobia is not exclusive to trans people, its a far wider issue and its time transphobes (and TERFs especially) picked up on that reality and realised what theyre actually doing to themselves.

Sabotaging Oil and Gas Infrastructure Is an Act of Climate Heroism
As states and corporations build fossil fuel infrastructure despite protests, we must take the tactic of sabotage seriously.
"In the summer of 2016, Jessica Reznicek, then a 35-year-old spiritual activist following the tradition of the Catholic Worker and the Plowshares movements, and Ruby Montoya, a 27-year-old former preschool teacher and Catholic Worker, carried out multiple acts of sabotage against pipelines and machinery used in the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline at Standing Rock.
"During the night Donald Trump was elected president, the two women trespassed onto the construction site of Energy Transfer, the conglomerate of companies behind the pipeline, and burned down five pieces of heavy machinery. Thereafter they learned how to use welding torches to destroy valves on steel pipes, and during the year 2017 managed to sabotage pipelines up and down the state of Iowa. They also successfully continued their arson attacks against the heavy machinery used in the construction of the pipeline ...
"The kinds of actions carried out by Reznicek, Montoya and others have the potential to capture greater attention, galvanize a broader mobilization, and thus play a critical role in resisting the destruction of the planetary biosphere."

Republicans are garbage.
Transgender Center Concerns
Gosh wouldn’t it be WACKY if HYPOTHETICALLY people flooded their inbox with spam disguised as concerns? 🤡
Man -- you know what is truly awful? Is when a lot of people make a lot of plausible but false reports, so it just fills up with a bunch of data they can't realistically sort through.
Like wouldn't it be especially horrible if people were to do something like use chatgpt to generate realistic sounding complaints? I think these anti-fascist trouble makers even use VPNs to disguise where the complaints are coming from.
It would be really bad if someone were to reblog this post with information about how to safely get and use a VPN (I'm not super knowledgeable). People should not do that thing.
