this post and all its wonderful additions (look in the notes) is circulating again. these photos and many of the ones added in the notes come from the US Southwest.
right now the trump administration is attacking the public lands in the Southwestern US. most recently (July 2026), in Utah the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments have been cut by over 90% to allow for mining. these lands are sacred to multiple Native nations in the area and contain irreplaceable archeological sites. additionally, the commission of Native representatives who aided in management of these lands has been dissolved leaving Native people without a voice in caring for the remaining land. (read more here)
here in New Mexico, the 10 mile buffer zone surrounding Chaco Canyon preventing oil and gas drilling is under attack. Chaco Canyon contains incredibly old and incredibly fragile archeological sites sacred to Pueblo people. these sites are threatened by mining and drilling. (read more here)
The attack on the Chaco buffer zone is currently in a public comment period open until July 29. PLEASE leave a public comment to save these irreplaceable places.
some people have cut this addition off of their reblogs and quite frankly that's disturbing.
you can't appreciate the desert and also erase the fact that these places are under attack.
and I'd even say it's downright racist. this isn't "just" the desert, these are sacred locations to multiple Native nations and they are under attack because they are sacred to many Native people. the least you can do is reblog to raise awareness to the attacks on these lands. there is no going back from mining and drilling. there is no way to repair these ancient archeological sites when the vibrations in the ground topple them and when they are bulldozed.
submitting a public comment is the absolute bare minimum you can do and if you can't be assed to write 1 sentence saying you don't support removing the Chaco buffer zone then at least leave the reblog encouraging other people to do so attached.
yayyyyy nonconstruct monhun kity

like this
can someone turn the lights on in that jpeg
This is what I would do if I was Count Binface and I actually won:
Resign from office on the grounds that I only ran for the bants, triggering a further by-election
Immediately announce my candidacy for the by-election.
*sits bolt upright* the natural predator of Vampires is stone circles
why 🤨
Accross Britain (I can't speak for other countries with stone circles and standing stones) an extremely common rejoiner is that these stones in a circle cannot be counted. In some places that simply means that noone will agree on how many there are, in others it means that anyone who counts them will immediately disappear, to god knows were (some say Avalon. I say to some sort of digestion chamber. Wilder men than me will suggest that's two phrases for one concept).
One thing we know about vampires is they are cursed, as part of the condition, with a deep and fundemantal requirement to count things.
Therefore I posit that, much in the way nematodes in soil are naturally preyed upon by fungi who form little mycellial nooses for worms to snag themselves in, vampires are - by force of random brownian motion (vampires cannot share territory and therefore will force each other apart to ensure a wide spread of biters) to encounter stone circles, whereupon they are forced to count them and henceforth be removed from the board. So to speak.
Nematodes:Fungi::Vampires:Stone circles was an absolutely brain breaking take
This also happens with this circle of trees in The House at Pooh Corner. The vampires get stuck forever trying to count the trees. This is why everyone in the Hundred Acre Wood is safe from vampires.

Siamese Red-Necked Keelback (Rhabdophis siamensis), family Colubridae, Cambodia
Mildly to moderately venomous.
Venom is excreted into the saliva, and enters the prey through the bite wound. Keelbacks do not have fangs.
This species is also poisonous! They sequester toxins from the toads they prey on.
