feel like people are maybe not grasping a major reason why paying a salary out in giant complete chunks is unfavorable. bc like yes we’re talking about sports teams and player contracts rn but it’s very much a consistent thing for any large sums of money and it’s the whole reason insurance companies are Like That, which is to say: the longer you have that money in your possession, the more time it has to make money for you. paying out 18 million all at once vs in installments over a year costs you money in the sense that none of that 18 million is generating interest for you during that time, as opposed to the installment structure where it is. there are other more logistical concerns about liquidity and everything that also make it problematic, but like. the amount of interest generated by 18 million dollars even just over like two months is uhhhhh not smthn to scoff at!
