SOMEONE WILL REMEMBER US

i definitely don’t like is as much season 1&2 of iwtv so far. you can really tell amc chopped their budget and they had to scramble to redo everything and make a bunch of compromises, especially with the backstory scenes, which, unfortunately is where the series shines. i don’t hate it, but the writers voices comes through way too much, and is really repetitive. they needed someone to reel them in a bit, but I think when they had to make comprises they ended up leaning into it more.

the modern storyline is blah, but it would have been much more tolerable if it was snippets in between the flashback clips instead of dominating the story. this new episode in particular makes me mourn for what could have been because the scene with lastat/marius/akasha was SO SO good and reminded me how good this series CAN be, and felt the most like iwtv. i think the season would have been much more like that in the original plan before the budget got cut. ugh.

I actually kinda like that lestats music is mostly cringe, it suits his character and the writers specifically said that they chose glam rock because it’s the most cringe thing he could have done in 2025 and I respect that. the songs are fun and reflect the character. do I love them all? no, but I do think they fit the needs of the story.

on another note though i am enjoying armand this season so far. he’s so pathetic and you can see he’s about to go off the rails. assad is so good. i do feel like eric is kinda flubbing it this season though without jacob as a scene partner.
