how long did it take for rocky to even CONSIDER making the xeva suit. and how long after designing and building and testing and testing and testing did he finally try to make contact. because yeah he could handle if he got hurt, fucked up his atmosphere, died, whatever but what he can't handle is the idea of putting grace in danger. if something is wrong with the heat diffusion or there's a gas leak or the thin xenonite doesn't hold it's shape in the pressure etc etc etc etc. and how long until grace has to take the first step and reach out and grab his hand because rocky might not be able to trust himself fully ever again but grace has trusted him with his like over and over and over and will do it again in a heartbeat.
