Ok, I am not inherently against fan fiction being remade and republished. If it is a popular fic that is not overly connected to the world or series the fic is taking place in then I think it can be well and tastefully done.

However, I just heard something about All the Young Dudes getting published and I’d just like for someone, anyone, to explain to me how in the world that could possibly work. Despite having a couple big differences from the HP series, it is still tagged as a cannon compliant fic. It takes place in Hogwarts and they fight in the first wizarding war.

To publish ATYD it wouldn’t even be “reskinning” or “reimagining”, it would have to be a completely different story. If MsKingBean89 comes out with a series heavily inspired by ATYD that could work, but I don’t think doing an exact reimagining would make any sense whatsoever. I am confused and a bit irritated by this news. I hope it’s just a rumor, or that the author is just making a similar/inspired new work, but with all the fanfiction publication recently idk what to believe.
