Forget gruff top Derek and leetle softboi Stiles. Give me tired, jumpy Derek who can only finally let his mask down and work through his trauma around his boyfriend, who maybe doesn't seem like much at first glance, but goes toe-to-toe with crazed shapeshifters and kicked a demon out of his own body and once held paralyzed Derek up in a pool for two fucking hours do you know how much denser muscle is than fat?! Derek had the buoyancy of a goddamn anvil.

Derek is soft and forced to act tough. Stiles is tough as hell but constantly dismissed and underestimated. Derek offered to teach Scott how to be a wolf but couldn't because he was born one. Stiles figured it out with one night, an internet connection, and a fistful of Adderall (and a nice big dose of spite XD).

Stiles is an interesting character because he comes off as a rowdy teenage boy, but shows a level of responsibility and understanding that is abnormal. The way he obviously obsesses over his father’s health after his mother’s death AND even after experiencing alleged abuse from his father. What he’s been through from before TW starts to the end, shows he’s complex and empathetic in a way that’s relatable to viewers. His lack of physical power also means, with his desire to protect his friends, that he has to look out for them in other ways, including emotionally.

Dionysus— god of fermentation. Of rot. Of life after death. Of decay that brings new life into existence. Of fungi and decomposers.

Glaucus, you see, is the other child of King Minos who was receiving prophecy about a miraculous cow who changed the colors of the mulbery fruit (underripe mulberries can be hallucinogenic, did you know?) who drowned in an omphalos/a vat of honey. Honey and mulberry, and the glaucus, the divine sheen of yeast making divine honey wine (don't worry Polyidus resurrected him because that's part of the Mystery, right?)

As someone who brews devotionally, I can rant about yeast a lot. Yeast as change, as fire, as the chemical reaction through heat, like the chemistry symbol delta, the first letter of Dionysos' name because He's present in that change. Yeast as the spirit horde, the coterie of Dionysos, the way community is integral to our survival, and the community together makes something sacred from our base matter.

Tending brews, compost, or a "reverse kathiskos" (like a controlled mini compost in a bottle from old offerings or the replaced kathiskos contents) can all be direct ways to interact with the fungal Dionysos.

The entire Bible is a recursive morass of AUs and self-inserts and Putting that God in Situations, and that's before we even get to crackfics texts called things like "The Infancy Gospel of James."

"Fanfic" is just a diminutive term for what snooty people call "derivative works," which is, and I cannot stress this enough, THE FUNDAMENTAL WAY HUMANS TELL STORIES TO EACH OTHER.

Do you know what the difference is? If you guessed "gender" and/or "capitalism," you are correct. "Fanfic" happens when the derivative work isn't capitalistically viable and especially when said work was created or is perceived to have been created by a woman (and/or, probably, queer person). Derivative works that can be marketed are called "adaptations."
