the more you listen to it, the funnier it gets
Audio: dramatic piano. The husky screams along, vaguely keeping the rhythm but not the tune
That last ROO always gets me

Are u andrew jackson
dos THIS answer your question
Because he was a Democrat
My hottest take is that, no, comics/manga/manhwa/etc. do not count as reading books when someone asks you that question. And you know they don't.
And because this is the piss on the poor site, you're not invalid or whatever for reading those; I occasionally will read a graphic novel or manga, too. But they're a completely separate medium from books. And you know that.
Fanfiction doesn't count, either. And you know it doesn't.
lowkey many books are comparably terrible relative to those thangs like most books are not in search of lost time. 98% of books are like harlequin porno or tellalls by fox news anchors or some shit abt ancestral diets cutting belly fat. idk shit about the graphic novel world but i'm sure there's some rly classy high minded stuff out there. idg why the nature of the medium matters at all who's even getting grilled on whether they read books and who's apparently lying about it like is even this a situation
"Television shows are not movies. If someone asks you what movies you've watched, you shouldn't respond with a television show."
"Yeah, but a lot of movies are really bad. Most movies in fact. And there are good television shows."
well yeah but there was obv a value judgment implied..... like there was a clear ranking of legitimacy taking place with books at the top and i was objecting to that. or maybe there wasn't idk. but like the insistence on it being an entirely separate medium kind of feels ahistorical and arbitrary given that some of the hottest works in the canon were released serially in newspapers and stuff and have only retroactively been reclassified as "book". the idea that there's some clear line between "books", graphic novels (which are what just too image-heavy to qualify i guess despite being physically bound?), and fanfiction (which is corny and for kids but like i'm sure there's some good stuff and some of it ends up literally getting published and bound and then entering the category of "book"). the way information is delivered is going to change over the years eg the novel itself is very new. i don't see how a novel/novella is ontologically closer to a nonfiction book abt wwii than it is to a narrative graphic novel or some freaky fanfiction. bartleby the scrivener is literally some shit someone would post on substack (good tho).. idek why i engaged sorry i took an adderall earlier and soemthig really bad happened to me today
There is a very clear difference between books and comics/graphic novels/manga/etc.
There is great fanfic out there but it is a completely separate thing from published fiction. Fanfic operates on an entirely different language because it exists as extensions of already existing properties; that is the entire appeal of fanfic. This is why so many fanfic-to-published-fiction tend to flop because many fail to make that transition gracefully.
This is all about when people ask you how many books you've read. And if you respond with "I've read thirteen Batman comics" or "I've read thirty pieces of fanfic," you can do that if you want, but I don't know how you wouldn't be embarrassed as an adult.
but "book" is an unstable category. dictionaries are books, a kids picture book is a book etc. but obvs the "nobody reads" moral panic isn't about people not reading enough geometry textbooks. right now we're talking about blocks of black text on light paper with few to no images, 100+ pages... fiction, nonfiction, poetry collections. but that is not synonymous with "book". maybe what you're looking for is "literature" but then thats even more unstable and judgment-based. for my part if i read for fun im prob listening to audiobooks of short stories and plays. do i get to claim vanya as one of my books and if so does it require i look at the text visually.. and if i read a collection of zadie smith essays once compiled and published is that better than reading them in the new yorker individually?
also like if someone asked an adult how many books they've read they should be the one embarrassed bc what kind of passive aggressive potterhead gifted kid shit is that to ask somebody.... like quantify your intelligence for me using this metric ive wrongly assigned meaning to
you know sure as hell what a book is. please
I also don't like Jason Momoa. He is better than Zendaya, but only just. I wish they'd get real jobs.

My coffee maker is such a faggot. Every time I use it it whines and moans and groans and pisses all over the place
i think they're called baristas
all articles about tumblr’s “decline” boil down to 2 things: you can’t get famous on here and you can’t make money on here. And they don’t get that that’s why we like it here.
Au contraire! You can absolutely get famous here
It is however, explicitly a bad thing.
There’s a rock in the Barrens in WoW they can’t remove because the whole world crashes, and that’s beautiful.
