The Age of Arthur
Setting Blurb: Imperial Land Force (Reworked)
Overview: During the reign of the Second Dynasty, the Imperial Armed Forces was subject to a massive overhaul. The increase in interplanetary travel and construction of orbital infrastructure resulted in the Aerospace Force's "Space" half to be split as the Space Force, and the logistical and organizational Support Service Force was created to consolidate the Armed Forces' military support components. The remaining ground, air, and sea combat arms were consolidated into the Imperial Land Force (the name still irks its Naval and Air components to this day).
The core of Imperial armies have remained the same since the days of Operation JANISSARY, all Soldier households within a geographic region are organized into a Bandon (for Land and Support Service Forces, a Space Force Bandon consists of a Mothership's crew). Bandons are further divided into 3-5 Tumens (CorpEmp's equivalent of a Division), and has smaller independent formations attached. Tumens combine their 25 subordinate battalions into larger, temporary formations known as Maneuver Forces. Maneuver Forces come and go to meet their parent Tumen's needs in a battle space.
Although they form a majority of personnel in the Imperial Armed Forces, Soldier-class personnel do not solely populate the IAF. Worker-class civilians are allowed in if they test into it following their vocational testing (most inductees enter the Support Service Force, with their descendants more likely to enter the Land or Space Forces), and it times of war paramilitary auxiliaries are absorbed into the Land Force's structure. Said auxiliaries range from Worker-class militias, Ruler-class retinues, Priestly warbands, and formations of Soldiers not selected for active duty.
Sphere Army: Consists of all Field Armies assigned to a planetary body/system (Ex: Earth Sphere Army, Mars Sphere Army, etc.). Each Sphere Army is commanded by a Paladin of the order of Imperial Knights.
Field Army: Field Armies consist of at least three to five Bandons and oversee a Viceroyalty on Earth or the and are commanded by a Lord Field Marshall. Field Armies are divided into two categories. Garrison Armies are assigned to a particular territory, and Mobile Armies travel across CorpEmp territory to supplement Garrison forces. Subunits within Imperial Field Armies are classified as follows:
Bandon: Bandons, or Banners, consist of all Soldier class households in a region of one or more MacroCommunities. Bandons are commanded by Bandonkhans.
Tumens: Consisting of twenty-five battalions, attached Support Service Force units, and one aircraft wing. Tumens are commanded by Tumenarchs.
Maneuver Force: Consists of five battalions (two infantry or armor battalions, two cavalry battalions, and one artillery battalion), Maneuver Forces are ad-hoc formations created as-needed by their parent Tumens. Maneuver Forces are commanded by Colonels.
Independent Maneuver Force: Varying in size, Independent Maneuver Forces (IMFs) operate separately from Tumens and are deployed to resolve issues too small to require a Tumen-sized formation. IMFs are commanded by Colonels.
Independent Air Cavalry Wing: Fixed-wing aerospace assets that are not subordinate to Tumens. Independent and divisional air wings follow the same organization as Space Force orbital assets (See: Orbital Command).
Naval Banner: The descendant of pre-Imperial oceanic navies, Naval Banners consist one carrier squadron (one carrier and two escorts), two destroyer squadrons (three destroyers of the same type), two amphibious assault (marine) brigades, and an attached Support Service squadron.
Battalion: Consist of five comitatus commanded by either a Force Commander or Lieutenant Commander.
Comitatus: Consist of five sergeanties and commanded by a Captain.
Sergeanty: Consist of five squads and commanded by a Lieutenant or Senior Sergeant-at-Arms.
Squad: Consist of ten men-at-arms and commanded by a Sergeant-at-Arms.
List of Active Sphere Armies:
Imperial Guard Corps: Consists of three Field Armies (Gold, Silver, and Bronze respectively), and is given the task to defend the reigning Empress and her Consortium Imperii. The Imperial Guard Corps is considered to be a "military within a military", as it is made up of Land, Space, and Support Service Force elements.
Sol Sphere Army: Barley a single Bandon in size. One Tumen guards the mining operations on Mercury, and the other garrisons CorpEmp's portion of the Solar habitats.
Earth Sphere Army: The largest Sphere Army, consisting of ten Field Armies (eight Garrison Armies for each Viceroyalty, and two Mobile Armies). After centuries of languishing in the habitat swarms following the Human-Crystalline War, the Earth's healing has given the Sphere Army hope that one day they will once again tread upon terran soil once again.
Venus Sphere Army: Consists of only one Field Army, each of its Bandons garrisoning one of the three Terrae under CorpEmp control.
Mars Sphere Army: Consists of three Field Armies, one for each border with CorpEmp's Martian neighbors, and the final one garrisoned on Phobos.
Jupiter Sphere Army: Consist of five Field Armies, one Garrison Army for each "rung" of CorpEmp habitats, and one Mobile Army. As Jupiter is the homeworld of the Fifth Dynasty, this Sphere Army has begun to rival the Earth Sphere Army in precedence.
Neptune Sphere Army: Consists of one Field Army, divided into two garrison Bandons and one Mobile. The presence of Neptune's Knightly Corporations provides extra manpower.
Army of the Extrasolar Territories: On paper, the Extrasolar Army is two Field Armies in strength. One Army is stationed in Alpha Centauri, while the second is divided across the remaining star systems. In practice, relativistic communications make accurate and timely reporting impossible.
Field Armies of the Earth Sphere Army (and Guards Army Silver):
Guards Army Silver: The Imperial Foot and Horse Guards. Guards Army Silver is the workhorse army in the Imperial Guard Corps, with multiple elements rotating in and out of multiple deployments across the Solar System and beyond. This Guards Army is made up of two Bandons, and one independent Tumen. The two Bandons are for the Blood and Shock Guard formations, and the Tumen is a rotational detachment. The Blood Guard Bandon is made up exclusively of recipients of the Anderson Blood Diamond, and serves as the Empire's elite (and very fanatic) light infantry. The Shock Guards serve as the Empire's armored fist, made up of the very best vehicle crews from across the Imperial Armed forces. The rotational Tumen is made up of non-Guards units from other elements of the Imperial Land Forces.
Field Army Blue: The Atlantic Army. As the Field Army assigned to the Eruomerican Viceroyalty, the Atlantic Army was made up of military units from the pre-Imperial Texan-Virginian Alliance and West European Plurality. The presence of the Atlantic Ocean dividing the Viceroyalty's terrestrial territory pre-Crystalline War necessitated Field Army Blue's development into a primarily amphibious and airborne force. With the exception of the Texas Armored Rangers, Virginia Grand Guards, and the Armée des Nationalités, most of Blue's ground combat formations are given the designations Marine (amphibious) and Brave (airborne). Blue is also referred to as a "Naval Army", as it is second only to Field Army Brown in the amount of naval assets it fields.
Field Army Red: Motherlands. Red is primarily a highly mobile mechanized army, traversing across the Eurasian steppe in their horde of IFVs and Tanks. Red's formations have their origins in the army of the Tri-Rus Confederation, and the heritage it inherited from the pre-Imperial Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact. Next to the Shock Guards, Field Army Red is the premiere armored fighting force, willing to throw more than enough tanks and troops at a problem until it stops being one. The prevalence of heavy rotary wing gunships in Red's possession means that a few units are designated as Aero-Dragoons.
Field Army Green: The Faithful. The Viceroyalty of the Ummah is home to a wide variety of religious groups, many of these with a long martial history. The Corporate Empire took these groups and reorganized them into what would become the Ummah's own Field Army. The presence of the Arabian and Saharan deserts, as well as the Caucasus and Zagros mountains, have made Green a mix of Dune-Dragoon (desert) and Highlander (mountain) units, with a few generalist Dragoons thrown in.
Field Army Pink: Pride of the New World. With the former Peru-Bolivian military serving as their core, Field Army Pink has come to field the most Highlander formations in the entire Imperial Armed Forces. Near-constant conflict with the Common Prosperity Coalition, the Green Consensus, and the neighboring Zapatistas and Crypto Coast have allowed Pink to field counter-insurgency troops as well.
Field Army Yellow: Lions. With the exception of Ethiopia's Highlander units, the Field Army that defends Viceroyalty Sub-Sahara is primarily a generalist one, tasked with defending the Empire's borders with the United Markets' and World Congress of Freedom's possessions in Africa. To cover multiple potential hot spots across the vast continent, Field Army Yellow fields a decent number of Brave formations. Sharing several of the Great Lakes with the United Markets means that Yellow's naval assets are specialized for riverine operations.
Field Army Orange: Defenders of Dharma. The Corporate Empire's Field Army in Viceroyalty Jambudvīpa is another generalist one, focused primarily with putting down (alleged) Green Consensus and (also alleged) WCOF-backed Neo-Naxalite insurgencies. India's Jāti system was one of the inspirations for the Corporate Empire's Great Class system, and the most of the formations in Field Army Orange are raised from the more "martial" Jātis that would become part of the Empire's Soldier Great Class.
Field Army Purple: Typhoons. Each of the three Bandons that are a part of East Asia's Field Army are highly diverse in their specialization. Solid Purple Bandon, garrisoning CorpEmp's Chinese, Korean, and Japanese MacroCommunities serve as mountain and city fighters. White on Purple, in continental Southeast Asia, are experienced jungle troops. Purple on Black, hailing from greater Indonesia and the Philippines, are amphibious combat experts.
Field Army Brown: Ring of Fire. If Field Army Blue is described as a Naval Army, then Field Army Brown is the Naval Army of the Imperial Armed Forces. Stretching across Imperial Australasia all the way to the Hawaiian Islands, the Pacific Ocean its many islands are under the domain of Field Army Brown. This necessitated Brown to have more naval assets than most of the other Field Armies from Earth. It's "ground" component consists of a single Bandon, and all fight as marines. The extra-strength Naval Bandons also field elite units of combat divers, some are equipped to conduct operations on the ocean floor.
Field Army White: All Imperial. Much like Guards Army Silver's rotational troops Tumen, Field Army White is a composite of formations that rotate in and out from the other Terran Field Armies in order to foster a greater sense of unity among the Sphere Army's diverse Soldier population. White also serves as the Earth Sphere Army's "expeditionary" army, one to be deployed beyond the Earth's orbit. They are oftentimes dismissed as a parade unit.
Field Army Black: Lunar Longbows. Before there was a Space Force and their Void Infantry (and Raptors), there was Field Army Black. Black fields formations of combat astronauts and paratroopers capable of jumping from orbit. They also have a wide array of spacecraft that can support the combat astronauts and space paras. Their base of operations on Luna has been a source of conflict between the Terran Viceroyalties and Sphere Sovereignty Luna over the matter of Black being either a Terran or Lunar Field Army.
Setting Blurb: The United Markets Military (UMM)
Unified Militia Command (U.M.C.) - Refers to the “military” of the United Markets as a whole. Well, it’s multiple militaries due to the highly decentralized nature of the United Markets. Since there’s no central government, there's no unified military structure. The U.M.C. is a conglomeration of mercenary companies and local militias. Mercenaries vary in tactics and equipment, and their organizational structure varies wildly. Militias, depending on the community they’re defending, can be as armed and armored as an Imperial tumen. Most, however, focus on light infantry, supplementing additional equipment with specialized mercenary units.
(Famous) Mercenary Commands:
Ad Hoc Inc.: Ad Hoc Inc. prides themselves in their rather…irregular style of warfare they offer to their customers. Ad Hoc specializes in having a wide array of contractors at their beck and call to perform whatever kind of security a client would require. Don’t expect them to wage a war on their own for you, though.
Brigade of Belter Bombardiers: BBB serves the United Markets as one of the few “Mercenary Spacies” operating in human-settled space. BBB was formed from several aerospace enthusiasts that served in the Belt Wars. They provide advisory and apprenticeship services for up-and-coming pilots and spacecraft crews. Their largest asset at their disposal is the Invisible Hand, the 15-kilometer-long mothership housing BBB personnel.
Geldmeister’s: “When one wants a war fought, you hire mercenaries. When one wants a war won, you hire Geldmesiter’s!” The number one in offering armies – and at a great price! – Geldmeister’s is what most citizens of human space imagine when thinking of mercenaries. As the largest mercenary command, Geldmeister’s can field formations equivalent to an Imperial Bandon on the battlefield. Frequent contracts against CorpEmp have made them the U.M.’s experts in mechanized and maneuver warfare.
Hot Trod Proactive Securities: When you want an enemy gone before they have a chance to do the same to you, you call Hot Trod. The mercs of Hot Trod are specialists in lightning warfare, utilizing light combat vehicles and aircraft. They do not last long if their targets are well fortified.
Jungle Work(s): Specializing in operations countering the Green Consensus, Jungle Work(s) are masters of warfare in all forms of foliage. They have received a lot of lucrative, long-term contracts as the likelihood of resettling the Earth grows.
Myrmidon Martial Industrial: The other Mercenary command that offers whole armies for sale. Unlike Geldmeister’s, Myrmidon Martial Industrial is for the customer that wants to win a war, but not interested in casualty counts. MMI was formed by shell-shocked veterans of the Human-Crystalline War, and its purpose was to have mass produced clone armies ready for any future invasions of the Solar System. No such invasion has occurred in 800 years, but MMI is still perfecting their human wave tactics. Just in case. Ant-themed.
Philanthrope: For those that can’t afford the cheapest Ad Hoc security package (or want a cheap and moral security package), there’s the helpful folks at Philanthrope. This non-profit mercenary firm, governed by a board of anonymous donors, exists to provide some means of defense for the more impoverished portions of U.M.-affiliated territory.
Free Market Militias:
Militia Command: Even with the market anarchies of the U.M. (Belt and beyond), some semblance of centralization exists. Militia Commands, often, exist only on paper. During periods of peace, Militia Commands are left vacant. When the need arises, contracts are signed by officers of the Command’s soon-to-be subordinate units indicating the terms of the Command’s purpose and longevity. Among the singing officers, a Cincinnatus-General is elected to serve as commanding officer (or a third party from outside the command is elected). Due to their more defensive inclination, Militia Commands are given names like the Free Market Defenders, Free Market Guardians, Free Market Watchmen, etc.
Regiment: The regiment is the largest Milita formation that is active in peacetime. Due to variations in manpower and equipment, there is no real uniform definition of the term. A “regiment” is whatever command is responsible for the defense of a particular territory that isn’t subordinate to another active command. Each Regiment is created by the residents of a territory affiliated with the United Markets (sometimes the Reserves create Regiments of their own) coming together and drafting a contract. Said contract defines the structure of the Regiment, the contributions of each signatory, and delimitate the “territory” it will be defending. A commander is elected from among the signatories, with the elected commander allowed to grant subordinate ranks. Regimental commanders title themselves however they wish (since they’re usually footing most of the bill for upkeep).
Client Regiment: Sometimes a regiment does not have enough manpower or equipment to properly defend their contractually assigned territory. Larger Regiments may extend the hand of patronage of smaller neighboring Regiments, provide discounted supplies and additional manpower in return for contractual obligations (like defending their Patron’s territory including their own). To save face, clients are allowed to still call themselves Regiments.
Battalion: Ideally, a Militia Regiment will have two or more battalions subordinate to it at any given time. Much like their parent regiments, manpower and equipment are dependent on who is willing to serve in their local militia and what each member can afford to bring.
Company: Companies are the smallest combat unit within a Regiment due to aforementioned variations in manpower and equipment (if a Regiment is large enough to field Companies). Depending on their strength, Companies can either be broken down into Platoons or Squads.
How’ver: A common phrase among U.M. militiamen referring to the recruiting calls at a Regiment’s establishment. It refers to however many personnel that bothered to show up to join the Regiment. Depending on its size, a Regiment (and its subordinate units) can be made up of multiple How’vers, or the Regiment itself can consist of a single How’ver.
An incomplete list of active Free Market Militia Commands:
FM Buccaneers: Void Infantry. One of the very few Free Market Militias that specialize in space-based operations. Their base of operations is the pirate haven of Libertatia, prowling the Asteroid Belt for statist shipping to prey upon.
FM Carabiniers: Mechanized Infantry. Descended from militias raised by denizens of Monaco and Nordsee.
FM Defenders: Garrison Infantry. Defender regiments trace their origins all the way back to the security forces raised by the city-state of Seattle-Vancouver after Texas concluded its conquest of the rest of Cascadia.
FM Dervishes: Guerilla/Urban Specialists. Raised from dissident groups bristling under Ethiopia's vassalization of Somalia as part of CorpEmp's organization. These dissidents would seek refuge in the U.M.'s Great Lakes territories.
FM Enforcers: Garrison Infantry. Descended from militias meant to defend the territory of the Crypto Coast from Zapatista and Texan encroachment.
FM Frontiersmen: Extremophiles. A sort of permanent "special forces" for the Free Market Militias. Trained and augmented to fight under any number of extreme and hazardous environments.
FM Gendarmes: Armored Infantry. More of a parade unit than anything else. Raised by the wealthy citizens of the U.M.'s colonies on Venus.
FM Guardians: Garrison Infantry. Formerly West African miltias along the U.M.'s Gold Coast.
FM Justicars: Garrison Infantry. Ceres' homegrown militia regiments. All fight in their Sunday Best.
FM Lascars: Urban/Maritime specialists. From the Indian city-states that would join the United Markets. Just as capable of fighting at sea and the city streets.
FM Marshals: Garrison Infantry. Formed from militias and private security forces that operated in Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore.
FM Medjay: Desert Specialists. Formed from disgruntled security contractors in the rump U.A.E. and a trickle of anti-CorpEmp dissidents in Southwest Asia that made their way to the Petro Emirate.
FM Mounted Constabulary: Mechanized Infantry. One of the few, if not the, professional regiments operating in the Free Market Militias. Their primary area of operations is the U.M.'s border with CorpEmp on Mars.
FM Praetorians: Armored. When Argentina collapsed after WWIII, those elements of the nation's military close enough (and still loyal) to whatever was left of the government in Buenos Aires would evolve into the FM Praetorians regiments.
FM Protectors: Void/Garrison Infantry. Militias raised by U.M. settlers in the Asteroid Belt and Trojans.
FM Rangers: Airborne/Armored. One of the original Free Market Militias, the Rangers have their origins in the Free State Movement that made the trek to Nevada. Salvage from military depots and funding from Vegas' gambling industry allowed them to quickly assemble a sizeable arsenal.
FM Regulators: Garrison Infantry. Another set of garrison regiments on Ceres. Unlike the Justicars, Regulators are raised exclusively by Hoppe Hedonics.
FM Sepoys: Private Security. Used to refer to any security force contracted to fight as a part of the Free Market Militia.
FM Tirailleurs: Raiders. Raised to fight CorpEmp and the WCOF in the lava tubes of Luna.
FM Vanguards: Garrison Infantry. Vanguards trace their descent to the many mercenary formations that would conquer Hispaniola and Jamaica prior to WWIII.
FM Zouaves: Raiders. The Martian equivalent of the FM Tiralleurs. They operate along the U.M.'s border with the WCOF.
Setting Blurb: The Congressional Armed Freedom Fighters (CAFF)
CAFF terminology:
“Clonscript” – Portmanteau of clone and conscript, referring to the cloned portion of the World Congress of Freedom’s military, known as the Congressional Armed Freedom Fighters (CAFF). WCOF citizens consider “Clonscript” derogatory; they prefer Combat Bioautomata. The Clonscripts were created following the end of the Human-Crystalline War, and the depletion of the WCOF’s non-Party population. Prior to the war, service in the CAFF was a requirement for entry into the WCOF Party. With the war’s end, virtually all of the population able to had already enlisted and earned their party membership. Attempts to recruit Party Members (veterans and fresh recruits) were moot due to the war leaving a bad taste in the populace’s mouth. Efforts into the creation of humans via artificial wombs gave the WCOF the means of rebuilding their military quickly. Every citizen is required to contribute genetic material (unless they volunteer to serve in the CAFF themselves), and there are rumors that the CAFF steals genetic material from promising enemy combatants killed in action. Clones are essentially homunculi, biologically “humanlike” with tweaks to their genome to allow their categorization as distinct from baseline humanity. All clonscripts are sterile, with aging accelerated (they grow up faster but live shorter). Clonscripts are placed into three categories depending on their age and experience:
Hastati – Clonscripts that decant successfully and survive their initial training are inducted into the Hastati. This third of the CAFF’s clone formations are given the most basic weapons and body armor. In combat, Hastati are sent in human waves to overwhelm the enemy (or expend their ammunition).
Principes – Hastati that survive multiple campaigns (physically and psychologically) are promoted to the ranks of the Principes. Principes are sent into combat after the initial wave of Hastati has either made an exploitable break in enemy lines, or to make one should the Hastati fail. Clonscripts that reach this position have access to higher quality equipment, and light combat vehicles.
Triarii – The senior-most (survived the most campaigns) of the CAFF’s clonscript forces are elevated to the Triarii. While Hastati and Principes operate in their own formations, Triarii are the equivalent of senior NCOs, assisting Party Volunteers in commanding their less experienced brethren. Triarii can also be seen in Party Volunteer vehicle crews and infantry formations (usually in specialist and advisory roles). To ensure their experience in the field is put to use beyond their modified life expectancies, Clonscript triarii are cybernetically and biologically modified.
Party Volunteers – Supplementing the Clonscripts are baseline human volunteers, either citizens already a WCOF Party Member, or applicants looking to increase their social standing. Members of the latter are rare after the Human-Crystalline War (hence the name Party Volunteers). In any combat zone, Volunteers are only deployed in the Clonscript wave attacks are successful. Volunteers may either serve as officers commanding Clonscript formations or serve in their own. Volunteer formations are classified as follows:
Equites – Party Volunteers, unlike the Clonscripts, have access to the CAFF’s complete arsenal of ground combat vehicles. CAFF vehicles are highly modular, allowing the WCOF’s small defense industries to produce “jack of all trades, master of none” combat platforms that can perform multiple roles on the battlefield (if the required loadout is available). Volunteers can also serve as aeroequites and pilot CAFF aerospace craft.
Velites - While the Clonscripts serve as literal cannon fodder, the Volunteer Velites are the CAFF’s elite infantry. Velites are deployed the moment Clonscripts punch a hole in enemy lines. It is only in rare occasions that Velites are deployed alone and without the support of Clonscript manpower (Imperial and UM soldiers joke that they only deploy alone when they know they’re already going to win). Much like their Equites comrades, Velites are trained to utilize modular equipment to alter their role on a changing battlefield.
Both Clonscripts and Volunteers used the following unit organizations:
Legionary Theaters – Legionary Theaters aren’t military units but are instead administrative divisions that subordinate units operate in. Legionary Theaters are made up of 12 Legios, and there are 1-3 Theaters on each planet with WCOF territory. Each Legionary Theater is commanded by a Revolutionary Prefect.
Legio – From the Latin “legion”, Legios are the largest military unit within the CAFF. Legios are made up of 3 Demi-Legios and are commanded by Senior Legate.
Demi-Legio – Inspired by CorpEmp Maneuver Forces, Demi-Legios are formations designed to operate independently from its parent Legio. Demi-Legios are made up of 8 Cohae and 2 Alae and are commanded by a Junior Legate.
Coha – Cohae are infantry formations in the CAFF and are made up of 8 Manii. 5 Manii in a Coha are made up of Clonscripts, and the final 3 are made up of Velites. Cohae are commanded by a Prime Centurio.
Ala – Alae are Equites (combat vehicle) formations subordinate to a Demi-Legio. Alae are made up 4 Equestrian Manii.
Mani – Manii are made up of 8 Contae regardless of their combat branch. Manii are commanded by a Senior Centurio.
Conta – Contae are the smallest unit in the CAFF and in the Velites are made up of 8 soldiers. Clonscript Contae are made up of 80 soldiers. Velites Contae are commanded by a Veles-Decan and Clonscript Contae are commanded by either a Junior Centurio or the senior-most of the Triarii. In Equites formations Contae refer to the crew and support personnel for an individual vehicle, and are commanded by an Eques-Decan.

An (in)complete list of noteworthy Legios serving the CAFF:
Legio 0. (The 8th of January) - The Zeroth Legio, named in honor of the day that the Cordon Rebellions against the Corporate Empire began. Becoming the parent command of the units that survived the Cordon Rebellion. Legio 0 has maintained its 1500 year reputation as the premier anti-Imperial specialists in the CAFF. One unique feature of this Legio is that it is exclusively made up of Volunteers (as no clone participated in the Jan. 8 uprising). They serve in the Terran Legionary Theater.
Legio 12-C. (Macheteros) - The CAFF's premier jungle fighting Legio, the nuclear devastation of their ideal battlegrounds caused a massive identity crisis for the soldiers of the Legio. What good were jungle fighters, when all the jungles on Earth were effectively charcoal? To the relief (and delight) of the Macheteros, the terraforming of Venus involved the planting of rainforests. Despite their small territory on the new Venus, the 12th Legio ensures that no invader will depart it alive.
Legio 30-A. (Pest Control) - In the years between the Human-Crytalline War and the Transhuman Wars, Mars was home to a secret war over alien tech and unexpended munitions that littered the planet's surface. All members of the Big Three launched border raids into each other's territory in order to secure these unclaimed caches. The original 30th Legio was destroyed in one of these raids by the United Markets mercenary company Myrmidon Martial-Industrial (ironically they were the company that inspired the CAFF to employ clone soldiers). The reconstituted 30-A Legio was then raised and drilled to perform the sole purpose of reacting rapidly to any border incursion into the WCOF's Martian partition. 30-A earned their epithet after their first successful operation, avenging their predecessor Legio.
Legio 35. (The Little Kurdistan Garrison) - After the Cordon Rebellion and the Treaty of Las Vegas, CorpEmp, the UM, and the WCOF agreed to conduct a series of population transfers to and from their territories. Anti-Imperial militants and their dependents from Kurdistan were allowed to set up an enclave in the remains of Kuwait City in the WCOF's Free Gulf Republic. Originally a paramilitary police force, the garrison of "Little Kurdistan", later the Öcalan Orchards habitat swarm, were raised to a full Legio.
Legio 57-B. (One Hand Clapping) - During one exercise near Green Consensus territory, Legio 57's rations were spiked by brave Green militants with psychedelic drugs. Believing themselves to be "enlightened", the soldiers of the Legio bombarded their communications with "profound" discussions before their Legionary Theater forced them to leave the exercise. Their name comes from one of the many, many drug induced discussions that the rest of the CAFF will never let them live down.
Legio 60. (Linen Legio) - More a ceremonial unit than one meant for combat, the Linen Legio is tasked with guarding the Congressional Council and Cybersyn complex on Saturn's moon Titan. Some within the Legio have requested their unit be transferred off Titan and serve in another Legionary Theater and prove they are more than just a parade Legio.
Legio 102. (The Flying Circus) - A clerical error left Legio 102 with more aerospace combat vehicles than ground vehicles. Taking it as a sign, the commanders of the Legio transformed the 102 into an air assault unit. The Legio's Alae are double strength are exclusively made up of aerospace vehicles.
Names to run away from really fast:
Hivers - Please see this entry for a full explanation on their origins. Like their kin in the WCOF, the Hivers have utilized Clonscripts running a subverted Commissar OS networked to the larger Hive. A majority of the Hivers can be found in the outer edges of the Solar System, but a few adventerous breakaways have made their way into the Extrasolar Territories.
Lobstermen - While the Clonscripts were designed to live for a shorter amount of time than baseline humans, one in one thousand decanted Clonscripts suffers from what amounts to biological immortality (hence their name). While most lobstermen are identified and "fixed" after failing to reach their genetic shelf life, a few wise up to their situation and attempt to defect from the WCOF. Of those, the ones that successfully evade capture make their way to a Reserve or Common Prosperity Coalition speakeasy (usually already home to other successful runaways). Lobstermen cells may either seek employment as mercenaries, head to the WCOF's rivals in the Big Three and sell what intel they know, or work towards liberating their comrades still serving in the CAFF. Some decide to go pirate instead, plaguing the shipping gateways of the Belts and Oort Cloud. Their longevity is not without cost however, as the longer they age the greater likelihood of developing tumors (benign but can still negatively impact their living conditions). The longest lived Lobstermen are essentially immobile living tumors.
Bioproletariat Liberation Front - The purpose of the WCOF's Combat Bioautomata program was to relieve the burden of the people of the WCOF from fighting the Revolution themselves and better enjoy the fruits of socialism. Things that look like human, but tweaked enough to not be would do the wetwork instead. Just another part of automating production and letting the proletariat focus on working towards communist society. Some Clonscripts don't see it that way. These dissidents, usually working in cooperation with Lobstermen cells, seek to ferment a revolution liberating their kinsmen from slavery at the hands of the Biobourgeoisie. They are also seen together with the Robot Revolutionary Army.
The Feral Sons of Set - As the Solar System regained contact with the Extrasolar Territories, each of the Big Three sent military expeditions to see what became of their colonial ventures. Legio 40-B. was dispatched to the Sirius system, a collection of habitats meant to mine whatever material was shed by Sirius B as it became a white dwarf. The Legio (and the other Big Three units dispatched to the system) encountered a series of religious wars being waged, and were offered by the locals whatever resources they harvested to the new arrivals to fight for them. Some of the leadership within Legio 40-B (no doubt dispatched 8 ly away their due to suffering antisocial behavior) decided to go native, and signed on to serve one of the many warring factions as mercenaries. Smaller elements of the Legio broke off either led by WCOF loyalists, or wannabe merc commanders wanting to go their own way. The Feral Sons still serve in the many Sirian Wars in the 3600s. Although many of their number are now native fighters, their Clonscript contingent is made with artificial wombs manufactured by the Feral Sons themselves, reverse engineered from the originals brought with the Legio centuries ago.

The trolley is about to run over all sentient life in the galaxy. You cannot switch the tracks, but you can still save everyone’s lives by pulling one of three levers, all of which involve sacrificing yourself. The red lever will destroy all trolleys, but will also kill you as well as all public transportation across the galaxy. The blue lever will merge your own consciousness with all trolleys, allowing you to control them and stop the trolley from running everyone over. The green lever will use your body as a catalyst to synthesize organic life and public transportation together - organic life will no longer be stuck in the cycle of creating public transportation that rebels against its creators, and both forms of life will finally be free.
