Content: It’s a bit of a junk drawer, really. Here you’ll find posts from my current main fandoms, writing, fanfic, various LGBTQ+/queer things, anything I find funny or cute, and a variety of other assorted fandoms and topics. My main fandoms are currently Leverage, far too many audio dramas, DC’s Batfamily, The Locked Tomb books, The Murderbot Diaries books, Discworld, Hades from Supergiant Games, Fullmetal Alchemist (primarily Brotherhood), and the Spiderverse films. I avoid posting about current events, though they may show up occasionally. It’s not that I don’t care--it’s that I care too much, and I try to protect my mental health. Fandom is my escape.
I typically write metas, reaction posts, and fanfic. Those are usually posted as soon as they’re written. Outside of that, much of my content is queued reblogs. I do not tag queued posts. My queue normally runs somewhere between ten and twenty posts a day, although it may run higher or lower at times.

I am very burned out as of the moment and have little energy for interacting with folks, so my replies may be slow and rare. I love talking to mutuals and online friends; it's just not something I can always handle right now. My apologies, and thanks for your patience.

People die on the job every summer. Remember that water and shade breaks are crucial when working in the heat, and calling emergency services for signs of serious heat illness (fatigue, nausea/vomiting, headaches, dizziness, clammy skin, confusion, agitation, slurred speech, high body temperature, rapid heart rate, etc.) is entirely appropriate. If you’re afraid to call 911 for reasons such as being undocumented, you’ll need to get very familiar with how to prevent, recognize, and treat heat illness. If you are symptomatic and not allowed a break, water, or medical treatment, walk out. No matter how broke you are, your job is not worth your life.

Clark Kent’s birthday canonically being February 29th is hysterical to me. Not because it’s meant to jokingly explain away how Superman is a timeless character, but because it implies Martha and Jonathan Kent found an alien baby in a cornfield, and when pressed to choose a birthday for their new baby, they gave him the most difficult birthday possible.
clark is clearly not a newborn and they're just going "well he is a leap day baby we don't really know how old he is! you know how newborns are, we lost track of time, the kitchen calendar got ruined by water when the upstairs shower leaked! he could be 1, he could be 2!"
this man is an ALIEN. he meets Batman AS AN ALIEN BEING. imagine knowing Superman for like, a year or so, enough that this friendship is solidifying, and his age/birthday comes up (maybe because he insisted on getting something small for Bruce's more publicly known birthday!) and this adult alien who is NOT BEYOND pulling petty shit when it's harmless and funny, says with a straight face and no explanation, that he's six years old. what is bruce supposed to do with that? maybe kryptonians age differently! clark could draw it out for a while, letting Bruce think he's younger than Robin! and Bruce wouldn't have a good reason to disbelieve it unless he like, went digging for Clark's high school records or something (which he MIGHT do but then maybe he's trying to respect a little of the privacy of the one friend he managed to make, pre-intense paranoia days).
Apparently some people still need to hear this so: using an 'ai checker' is still using ai. If you are feeding someone's fic to one of these checkers, you will still not be sure their fic is ai because they are not 100% accurate, but you can be 100% sure that you are using ai. For fic. Furthermore you are doing the work of an ai scraper for them. You are, personally, feeding the machine. There is no actual excuse for using an ai checker on fanfic as a hobby. YOU are the problem.
If you think a fic is ai, mute it and move on. That's it. That's all you do.

Having experienced a lot of it in my 20s, I think some of the worst, pettiest, most straight up this-is-just-bullying-you're-passing-off-as-praxis incidences of Queer Infighting endemic to young people can be best understood as attempts to exercise power by people with very little power.
Like you're 22, you're queer, you've just become a Marxist, the scope of World Suck is overwhelming and you have $30 in your bank account. What can you do to feel like you have any power? Well, you can try to get your frenemy cancelled for cosplaying a character from a problematic show. You can write a public callout post over someone's obviously friendly use of a slur you don't think they technically have the right to reclaim. Doing this stuff can make you feel like you have power and your actions have an impact. Unfortunately the impact in question is a negative impact on other marginalized people. But that often takes some maturity and self-reflection to notice.
I'm reminded of this post from 2017. To paraphrase, OP took part in community service via their university and part of that was cleaning the bathrooms at the local homeless community centre, which would frequently get trashed, not because the homeless people using them disrespected the work of the people cleaning them but because they had so little control over other things that happened in their lives, and the bathroom was something they could affect.
This, too, is a trashed bathroom; young queer people living through hell and having precious little control over their circumstances or the world in which they exist can affect something by using the language of social justice as a cudgel on their would-be allies, as well as getting a brief feeling of power over someone else by doing it.
It's not worth it. Don't trash your community bathrooms.
When I was like eight years old I read a novel where the protagonist gets isekaied to a fantasy world and immediately bumps into a wise mentor figure who purportedly wants to help her become a wizard, except it turns out that he's teaching her a fake magic system that does nothing except drain her power for his benefit. This wasn't even the actual plot of the book (the scheme is uncovered after like one chapter), but I've always wanted to do something with that in a tabletop RPG where the GM is actively lying to the players about what the rules are and they have to figure out how the "real" mechanics work. I haven't put any deep thought into how that could actually work from a structural perspective that doesn't just immediately devolve into yet another tedious exercise in "here's the vague suggestion of a system, now have the GM make something up", but it's on my "to do" list!

"When people have or show any kind of sexual response, it gives sexual partners big cues about what feels good to that person. When we’re responding in a way that’s for real, that’s great, because paired with verbal communication about what feels good, it helps our partners learn what we like. Only responding in ways that are real is a big part of the difference between a good sex life and a crappy one.
When people fake orgasm or other sexual responses, it still gives partners those cues. It just gives them wrong cues. It tells partners you respond to something in a way that you don’t, like something to a degree that’s not real, and if they don’t know you’re faking, and you also don’t talk about what’s really going on, they’re going to tend to keep doing whatever brought about those responses because they, since you have effectively told them so or shown them so, think those are the right things to be doing to please you.
In order for your sex life to get better, and in order for you two to actually really get and be intimate sexually, he needs to know that the information you have been giving him has been wrong information. He needs for you to start giving him accurate information about what goes on with you sexually."
We're absolutely not keeping these in the tags @strollsroyce, this has been once of the hardest and most relieving/validating parts of unlearning the defensive posturing of trauma. Learning that my negative and positive reactions need to align with my desired outcomes in order to communicate and negotiate space for myself safely and effectively in relationships
I said to a partner once, "Listen, I know that you don't like to say no to people and prefer to just sort of change the subject or whatever and hope they take the hint. But you want me to tie you up, and I can't do that if I'm not sure that you'll tell me no if you want me to stop. So I need you to tell me no, if not because I really want you to just tell me no if you don't wanna do whatever, then for that reason."
Practice if you need to: after a conversation like that, suggest a little rehearsing.
Say, “can we pause a moment?” even when things are great, to really experience how it feels to have someone hear that and stop immediately and pay close attention to what you want and don’t want -
That way you can both feel safe that what is happening is wanted and consensual
