The notes on this post are an absolute shit-show. Tumblrites are straight-up calling this post ableist, as if people with learning disabilities cannot learn or be taught how to read. Which is in offensive in itself, if you think about it.

As someone with a learning disability, please I’m begging you to shut up. Reading fucking SUCKS when you have a disability that fucks up your language processing, sometimes it can be physically painful. You’re acting like people with learning disabilities aren’t here to comment on ableism. There’s plenty of other ways to work out your brain besides reading and suggesting that reading is the only way IS ableist. If you don’t have a learning disability then next time please consider not speaking over us.

there is no way to replicate the benefits derived from reading without actually reading and just because something is hard doesn’t mean it’s impossible and yes, it is ableist to make the claim that people with assorted disabilities shouldn’t try to read bc it’s difficult for them.

Processing learning disabilities are not the only form of disability. Some people actually can’t read. Saying everyone can if they just try harder is ableist as fuck.
