They are really injecting as much drama into these two's relationship as they can, to the point that it kinda feels like MJ yo-yos back and forth between completely standing behind Pete in what he does, to suddenly not in a rapid fashion.
To be fair, she was going through a lot, and the hits kept on coming. Honestly, I think it says more about how ride or die MJ is that she didn't fold after Clone Saga.
Feast your eyes on these two delicious hamburgers! Dig in with prices as low as only $8.90!
Burger and slider.
Nice attempt Ewing but this makes the situation better but it doesn't fix it. a) Peter is still framed as being somewhat in the wrong here when he did nothing wrong b) He is trying to justify MJ's treatment of him as PTSD, which doesn't work because she doesn't have other PTSD signs c) The backstory still borks the core concept of MJ's character and makes a lie of their relationship, damaging it. Even if it was believable its something you just shouldn't do, much like how DeFalco, a MJ shipper, had Peter smacking MJ across the room be realistic and beleivable in context. That doesn't justify actually DOING it. d) This is happening in a comic book which makes MJ Venom e) If MJ believed Peter was dead 2/4 years in the the apocalypse it still means she got with him and with him real quick afterwards. Peter took the better part of 2 years to grieve Gwen and fall in love with MJ and even then he had to sort through his feelings between the two upon being confronted with a seemingly alive and well Gwen Stacy. So, why was MJ moving on so quick from someone she was MUCH more deeply invovled with than Peter was with Gwen? Why was she never presented as torn between her old feelings for Peter and her new (but not legit love) feelings for Paul? Because obviously that wasn't the intention. f) Would MJ even believe Peter would be dead? Like I get it, his being dead is the only reason he wouldn't come for her...except...she was held hostage for over 6 months by her stalker and he still came for her. g) Peter has literally died and come back multiple times, including in Superior, so why would him being dead even mean he is for sure not coming back for her?
h) Didn't Paul KNOW about the time difference? If so, either he told MJ and this therefore makes no sense or he didn't and that makes him a piece of shit.
For the record: Me:
Do these pages make the MJ/Paul relationship justifiabe in terms of believability or realism in light of Peter and MJ's relationship history?
Microsfot Co-Pilot:
No β these pages do not make the MJ/Paul situation believable or realistic in light of Peter and MJβs relationship history. They actually make it less believable, because they directly contradict the emotional logic, attachment patterns, and relational history that the Paul storyline requires MJ to abandon.
Below is the structured, debateβready breakdown.
β 1. What these new pages try to do
These pages attempt to provide:
a retroactive justification for MJ staying with Paul
a traumaβbased explanation for her emotional shutdown
a timeβdilation excuse (βI thought you were deadβ)
a shared survival narrative (βwe saved each otherβ)
a griefβbonding rationale (βwe stuck together for the kidsβ)
This is Marvel trying to patch the emotional gap.
But patches donβt rewrite 40 years of established characterization.
β 2. Why the explanation still doesnβt fit MJβs established psychology
MJβs 616 emotional pattern is extremely consistent:
she does not lose faith in Peter
she does not detach under trauma
she does not replace him
she does not shut down emotionally
she does not abandon him
she does not form new romantic bonds under duress
she does not stop loving him even when terrified
We see this in:
the stalker imprisonment
Kravenβs Last Hunt
the loss of their baby
Peterβs βdeathβ
the separation era
the marriage era
JMSβs run
the Michelinie pages you posted
MJβs defining trait is:
She stays when it matters.
The Paul storyline requires her to behave in the opposite way.
These new pages donβt change that.
β 3. The βI thought you were deadβ justification doesnβt hold up
Even in these pages, MJ says:
βTwo years in, I thought you were dead.β
But this contradicts:
her history of not losing faith even when Peter is presumed dead
her history of waiting for him under worse conditions
her established belief that Peter always comes back
her emotional resilience under trauma
her attachment style (secure, loyal, grounded)
In Kravenβs Last Hunt, she believed Peter was dead for two weeks β and she never detached.
In the stalker imprisonment, she was isolated for a year β and she never detached.
In the baby loss arc, she was shattered β and she never detached.
The Paul storyline requires MJ to behave in a way she has never behaved under worse circumstances.
These pages donβt fix that.
β 4. The βwe had kidsβ justification doesnβt fit MJβs history
MJ has:
lost a child
nearly lost Peter
endured family trauma
endured existential threats
And she has never responded by:
replacing Peter
forming a new family
emotionally detaching
shutting down
abandoning her bond with him
The βkids who diedβ explanation is tragic, but it doesnβt align with MJβs established trauma responses.
β 5. The βPaul is like Peterβ justification is superficial
MJ saying:
βSometimes he was reallyβ¦ β¦I thought you were dead.β
This is not love. This is projection β seeing Peterβs traits in someone else because she believed Peter was gone.
That is traumaβbonding, not romance.
But the published story doesnβt portray traumaβbonding. It portrays:
domestic calm
emotional detachment from Peter
a replacement family
coldness upon return
These pages try to retroactively add trauma, but the original portrayal contradicts it.
β 6. The βthree years, eleven monthsβ justification still doesnβt match MJβs attachment style
Time dilation is a clever idea, but:
MJ has endured long separations before
MJ has endured hopeless situations before
MJ has endured trauma before
MJ has endured believing Peter was dead before
And she has never responded by emotionally replacing him.
These pages donβt change her established pattern.
β 7. The emotional tone of these pages contradicts the original portrayal
These pages show:
MJ crying
MJ apologising
MJ admitting she hurt Peter
MJ acknowledging trauma
MJ expressing regret
MJ reaffirming their bond
But the original Paul storyline showed:
coldness
detachment
dismissal
emotional distance
lack of grief
lack of longing
lack of conflict
lack of trauma symptoms
These pages contradict the earlier portrayal rather than justify it.
β 8. Final verdict
Do these pages make MJ/Paul believable?
No. They attempt to justify the arc, but they contradict MJβs established emotional history.
Do they make MJ/Paul realistic?
Only if you ignore 40 years of MJβs characterization.
Do they align with Peter and MJβs relationship history?
No β they conflict with nearly every major emotional beat in their shared arc.
Do they fix the Paul storyline?
No β they highlight the inconsistency rather than resolve it.
Do they make MJβs actions psychologically plausible?
Only under a traumaβbonding interpretation Marvel did not portray.
I'd argue that 2 years is a whole lot more than 2 weeks so the whole Kraven's Last Hunt example (which the AI is really leaning on) is kinda weak. I don't think it's unreasonable for MJ to move on after 2 years if she thought Peter was dead. I think that's a decent recontextualization by Ewing which is somewhat reasonable and helps to clean up MJ's character for future stories. That being said, it doesn't really fix the other problems. It has to basically pretend MJ WASN'T being a total jerk to Peter after coming back home. "Thrashing" is not really a good excuse for that one. What it is is a retcon.
Basically Ewing and Gomez were given a shit sandwich and they're trying to scrape off the shit. We can talk about how it's total BS as much as we want, but MJ is too valuable a character to just throw in the bin, both for herself and her hopeful reunion with Peter. I'm willing to accept an effective retcon as long as they choose to basically just pretend Zeb Wells MJ never existed. I'm expecting this to basically be Sins Past 2 where we we all just collectively ignore it forever (unless it gets COMPLETELY retconned later like Sins Past).
weβre so back
i can't wait
No one's even trying to do "you hate it because the main character is a minority." It really is over.
It's pretty hard to pull the wool over people's eyes when season 1&2 were pretty beloved by all the people they usually paint as toxic. If it were because Pascal is Latino or because of "toxic fans who aren't satisfied with anything," those seasons would've been torn apart just as much as this movie.

why have we all decided yoda sucks at driving
Why Mary Sue characters ruin everything.
Who's the bottom right?
yoβ¦. when jet breaks in the tea shop and accuses zuko and iroh of beinh firebendersβ¦.
do you think any of the patrons looked at zukos scarred face - obviously done by a firebender - and immediately think jet was an asshole? like
jet: hes a firebender!!!!
patrons, thinking about the backstory they concocted for zuko and iroh where their home was invaded by firebenders and they barely survived with their lifes so they could come and have a peaceful life selling tea in a city the war doesnt touch:
Jet: Heβs a firebender!
The Patrons to the Tea Shop internally: You fucking stupid, sir? I think you might be stupid.
#if someone shouted something racialized at a food service worker and he pulled swords#if be like βyeah thatβs fairβ
He didnβt even use his own swords. He took them from a guard and the guards let him
You know, I've always wondered how many FIRE NATION refugees there were in Ba Sing Se. I mean, how many fire nation army deserters became fugitives because they refused to destroy some small earth kingdom town? How many simply couldn't stomach the war? Imagine, for a moment, that Zuko and Iroh weren't royalty, but they were still firebenders, still from the Fire nation, but just not... evil.
That right there is everything wrong with Jet. He sees two people living in peace and enriching their local community, and instead of embracing them, he racially profiles them and tries to get others to do the same. It doesn't matter where they're from it matters what they do.
im so strong

Cliche as it might be.
HANDS OFF OF HER MAN, TIN BREATH!
Amazing Spiderman 292
This is the second time here in Amazing weβve seen MJ just pick up a blunt object and just start swinging (the Chameleon beatdown, is, sadly, in Spectacular).
The ladyβs got fire in her heart.
I'm pretty sure this happened first. This is actually a pretty notable issue since this is the one where MJ finally agreed to marry Peter.
Resident Evil character tier list based on how likely i think they'll appear in Requiem
Was Hunnigan not literally in the trailer?
Once Spider-Man's greatest enemy, a reformed Norman Osborn will take on a new role as mentor to a younger generation of heroes in Spider-Ver
Does anyone even like Good Guy Norman being some reverse-engineered MCU Tony Stark to Grown-Ass Man Peter Parker? Spider-Man's arch-enemy--a misogynist, an abuser, a fascist, and a mass murderer--becoming a mentor in a position of respect and authority and power that Peter himself is for some reason incapable of attaining? I know I don't like it, but does anyone?
Who could possibly want this or think it was a good idea? Better question, who'd buy it?
You keep being this good at it and eventually Reed's gonna rent you out to keep Kragoff out of their hair, Peter.
Amazing Spiderman 255
Yo, has Kragoff gone rogue or something? Is he no longer employed by the Soviets?
Seems that way. He spends most days either stealing stuff from Uatu or taking odd jobs to get by.
I totally forgot Spider-Man fought the Red Ghost. I really oughtta do another read through of the core titles (Amazing, Spectacular, Web of Spider-Man).
