Yinlin isn't really a new character in Whuthering Waves, a gacha game with anime style. Btw, the game has been a sucess mainly because of designing their characters this way.

In recent years, specially in western games, we had nothing but horrible characters designs (specially the women).

Remember Concord? Dragon Age the Veilguard? Star Wars Outlaws? Etc

They all failed not only because their gameplay and story sucked, but because their characters were fucking ugly and nobody wanted to play with them.

Turns out most normal gamers prefer to play and look at pretty characters than ugly ones.

It got them the ability in many parts of the world to be exempt from the draft. The ability for their sexism and profiling of men to get excused and defended.

Whenever men and women suffer issues it grants them a society more likely to put more aid for helping women even when men suffer it more.

We are allowed to mock men, insult them, and generalize them in ways that are more likely to be condemned when aimed at women. Being seen as an oppressed group leads to people caring more about your suffering and putting more effort into ending it.
