the place I work at remodeled these split gendered restrooms into āinclusive restroomsā and never told us what they meant while construction was ongoing. I need you to know every atom of potential criticism or whining that couldāve happened disappeared when people found out this meant we got 10 fully separate private bathrooms with sinks inside. Iāve not heard a single person crack a joke about the inclusive signage. this is the world TERFs are trying to steal from you
Masafusa Shibuya, satin, organdy, and silk thread
Masafusa Shibuya made these garments out of satin, organdy and silk thread. They offer the kind of comfort that you can touch and see, but also remember. Part dream, part architecture and part mood, these solitary scapes are a refuge of pathos and melancholy. As found in Fabric and Needlework Illustration, 1994.Ā Via
Also I really do think this colors some context to some play. Like for example, take kayle Osborn, who had a fucking insane workload this year and started to falter at the end. Obviously I donāt know every players personal situation and all their forms of income but Iām going to guess youāre not getting access to the best recovery or the best food on your days off / away from training if you are making 39k in the nyc metro area. If I had the workload she did and was making 39k id start killing people straight up

Anomalies- Kevin Lucbert
Self Portrait Ā - Ā Tove Jansson 1914-2001
Neat... was looking for just this and some Redditor delivered better than I hoped. The sea levels being just high enough to nip a bit of continental crust like that is fascinating to me
horror movie showing a childās drawing of the monster or ghost or whatever but instead of a little kid and crayons theyāre like a preteen and itās manga style
While i definitely have criticisms of how theyāve gone about it I stay staunchly pro expansion. Mainly
-itās the main way to create more high paid positions to play womenās hockey in North America, as well as get people in coaching roles and training roles and such
-I was of the opinion that six teams was too little to start with when youāre creating a league out of an already two established entities where one league had 7 teams + a whole tournament barnstorming style
-I am not overly concerned about the talent pool, Iāve seen people cite Seattle and Vancouverās performance as reasons to worry about the talent pool but those rosters have a lot of players who performed well in this league before, and I think if anything itās more proof that the talent differential between teams is still extremely limited and a lot of good performance is mostly coming from ability to build chemistry, travel impact, etc
-I also think itāll be good to create more spots and allow more unpolished players in the league like, not a ton, but weāve seen players like giaquinto or mackinnon who were able to have more development time take big steps forward and like, well players are mostly finished products by the time theyāre in their age 22 season and done with the ncaa, and the Sdhl can help, there is very little that gets you 100% ready for the physicality and speed of the PWHL other than just getting in there and gettin reps, and having just a handful of more spots per team for teams to invest in players with that will be good
-by expanding to Seattle and Vancouver and having the issues they did this year with travels theyāve also been putting themselves in the corner where they kind of need to put teams between them and the original six teams
-itās probably better to just rip the band aid off and do it now especially with post Olympic hype + most players being on one to three year contracts now where turnover is big anyway
-one of the most important things this league has ahead of it from a business standpoint is getting a valuable US television deal and theyāre going to need more us teams to get their value up
-But most importantly, getting good players paid, an opportunities to restructure contracts
The talent pool thing!!! Maybe thereās some kind of logic somewhere, but it always rings back as misogynistic to me.
It comes across as āThere canāt possibly be that many womenās players who are good enough.ā In a cycle of women arenāt as good or there are inherently less good women at professional sports.
Seattle and Vancouverās issues being boiled down to just the expansion happening at all as opposed to travel and the Olympics playing major parts is so silly. But also I feel like the effects could have been mitigated if they had a longer preseason to gel and form team identities, along with just more general training. Vancouver and Seattle had their star players taken out for large parts of the season because of injuries and sure original teams were able to take that blow a lot better when they had injuries, but they have also had more time playing together!
The idea that the talent wouldnāt be built up as soon as resources became available is laughable. What was one of the big stories of the Olympics? How far Italy/France had come from where they started once their countries put a little energy into creating national teams? How much the Swedish team suffered when they lost access to resources and funding and how strong they are now being built back up. But sure the talent is inherit and the PWHL could do nothing to help get people up to speed if they were below the skill level they wanted.
Which speaking of, are we suppose to pretend like all the countries with national teams donāt have a talent pool we can pull from? Like the Olympics wasnāt the perfect time for the PWHL to look at the national teams and scout for like 20 players who they like the looks of? That they canāt go to worlds where the talent is also amazing but suffers from lacks of funding and resources.
Iām sure there are also former PHF and NWSL players who are still around. SDHL players who already have long and accomplished careers. NCAA players who get drafted but there arenāt enough roaster spots for them to stay on the roaster. The reserve players in the PWHL already there.
Iām going to point out (again) how limited the goalie spots are in the PWHL and having no place to put young talent and keep them sharp is going to kick us and them in the ass one day.
And I donāt care if āthe product gets worseā which wow I hate that statement. Thank you. My product is seeing women get invested in and seeing what they can achieve. The product is the amazing community around the PWHL. Of course itās good hockey, but itāll be better hockey the more women are invested in.
Even if the teams arenāt as good one year after expansion (rolling my eyes) itās not like there arenāt way to mitigate that and get people up to speed.
Also- I donāt care about the PWHL as a business. Rich white guys blow so much more money on other random things for longer all the time. If a white guy wants his name to be on a championship cup, who already owns like two other sports team and a boat load of money Iām not worried about him.
And everyone worried about the PWHL as a business had also never seen the financial records or knows the leagues plans. They are making at best guesses, and at worst nonsense fear mongering. Is there not a better time to reimagine and expand of what we think a sports league is and how they are funded?
I want women to be paid for their labor and skill. Getting more players is only a net positive for me, and I donāt care what other people fantasize about the draw backs.

(...I don't have a caption. Undertale is 10!)
A malevolent alien has placed a cat in a box along with a geiger counter and a vial of poison. If the geiger counter detects any radiation then it will break the vial of poison killing the cat. The entire human race has to guess whether the cat is alive or dead, everybody that correctly guesses is transported to an alien prison. Half of the people are in the Minimum Security wing where they live in technically adequate but pretty miserable conditions, and the other half is in the Omelas wing where they live in unimaginable luxury with everything they could ever want but one person in the Omelas wing must live a horrible existence constantly trying to footrace a tortoise that has a headstart, meaning that every time they catch up to the tortoise, the tortoise has moved forward meaning there is a infinitesimally smaller and smaller gap between the racer and the tortoise, now people in the Omelas wing can choose to transfer to the much worse Minimum Security wing so technically information can transfer but only in that one particular direction. The alien explains to the people that everybody in each wing has to vote to either trust or betray the people in the other wing. If both groups decide to trust each other then everyone will spend one year in the alien prison, if both groups choose to betray each other everybody will have to spend 2 years in the alien prison. however if one group chooses to betray the other while that group chooses to trust, the betrayers will get to go free immediately and the trusters will have to spend 3 years in the alien prison. Unbeknownst to the prisoners, 10% of the Minimum Security wing has been replaced with philosophical zombies, creatures that have the appearance of human being with subjective experiences but actually are hollow husks with no qualia and will vote entirely randomly when the time comes; as well as one prisoner in the Omelas wing has been replaced with a Utility Monster, a creature that receives much more utility from each unit of a resource that it consumes than anyone else does, and will do anything it can to remain in the Omelas wing. My question is: which of these two colors do you like more?
