Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

Just came home from a dinner party with the friendgroup at which several people kept saying "Ask Pedro" or "Pedro will know" and I was terrified that they were referring to an AI like Claude but no, thank fuck, they were referring to a cardboard cutout of Pedro Pascal that someone left upstairs and who has been designated a kind of patron saint status in the household.

So I know i dont. Have much reach here but Still . I dont know how much news outside of the country talks about it, but like, a large part of Ontario is on fire right now, and the entire province is covered in smoke. Like im in southern Ontario, and walking outside for a minute and got a headache, and im truly lucky thats the worst happening in my area. Wild fires aren't uncommon in Canada nessecarily, but like . Its BAD. The world gets hotter and drier with the climate, and fire spreads. Idk i guess I just wanted to say something bc I feel like when stuff like this happens theres a large response when its in the US or something (which is great!! Genuinely!), but even when the fires in bc and nova Scotia happened a few years back, I feel like i didnt hear much. If anyone has a list of fundraisers or something to support the people evacuating, id love to know so I can spread them around more! And to anyone in Ontario, stay safe, whereever you are
