Seeing Baran, a character who is talented and capable, someone so kind and lovely, have to confront the limits her disability puts on her and the worsening of it in the same day fucking wrecks me. She’s probably done this thousands of times throughout her life. Higher education is a nightmare to navigate disabled in the 2020s, i cant imagine what it would have been like for her in the 2010s, having to fight the system so often just to do what she wants, what she loves.

When she said she’s spent her whole career trying to improve the system, trying to fight for everyone, i truly believe that her disability is core to this. When you are disabled, especially a disabled woman of colour like Baran is, you have to fight so hard just to get the bare minimum of healthcare you deserve. You are dismissed so often and every time it is soul crushing. And she has done it, she pushed through, she got a handle on her seizures, she’s an amazing doctor, and she is fighting to provide better healthcare for everyone.
