It was normal to me. Always funny, however. In kindergarten a lot of the parents where about half their age. Most of my friends have parents about 10 years younger, or more. I am happy my mom's parents had her young, so I had a lot of time with them, now only that grandpa still lives.

My parents somehow managed to be the most progressive and liberal parents I know, which I am very happy about. Had no problem with a lesbian daughter or a trans daughter-in-law and all my queer friends felt very welcomed. That makes me incredibly happy.

I was said to be a very serious and developed child, which I attribute partly to them and partly to the fact that I was chronically ill, and living with that just required discipline.

I have a brother, nine years older. Never really had a solid relationship with him. Understandable, he was off-age before I entered middleschool. When I got older and we could have deeper conversations it got a bit better, but he already had a whole life. We talk regularly and see each other at the normal family gatherings and I visit him every six months or so.

That's a lot of rambling, but I love my family and talking about them.

(My perspective might be a bit fucked, my parents had me at 44. All their friends are older, so I grew up around people that were already considered pretty old. That man is almost 20 years my fathers junior...)

50yo is NOT old 😭 Idk why some people act like it is. My dad is older than Shawn, and I'm 27, so it makes me laugh when people think he is soooo old
