HERO
Summary:
You meet a man who claims to be a prince from another world, after a love life full of disappointments and failed connections. As his impossible story begins to prove disturbingly real, you find yourself drawn to him in ways you didn’t expect.
Author's Note: After watching Master of the Universe (2026) and seeing Nicholas Galitzine at his best as Adam, I decided to write a chapter of a fanfic or a one-shot. It depends on whether anyone likes it. This chapter, like others, contains spoilers for the movie's plot. However, there will be changes in several parts as well. The characters don't belong to me.
Dear readers, I'm back! Please leave comments and interact with this chapter if you like it. I'll post the next chapter soon
SEVEN
EIGHT
You wake with a violent jolt, your body hanging from heavy chains fastened to a pillar in the center of what appears to be Skeletor’s throne room. The air is cold and stale, thick with the metallic scent of old stone and something sharper, something sinister that makes the back of your throat tighten. Your mind swims for a moment, the room blurring at the edges before slowly snapping into focus.
Towering shadows stretch across the chamber. Flickering light catches on jagged architecture, broken ornaments, and the dark, imposing shape of a throne raised high above the floor. Every corner of the room feels like it is watching you.
“Ah. At last, our honored guest is waking,” Skeletor says, his voice smooth and mocking as he steps closer.
He lifts a cold hand and lets his fingers brush your face, almost tenderly, as if he were inspecting a prized object rather than a captive. The touch sends a shiver through you, and you flinch instinctively, pulling uselessly against the chains.
"There it is," Skeletor murmurs with cruel amusement. "Fear. Such a wonderfully honest emotion."
Evil-Lyn circles around you with deliberate, measured steps, her gaze sharp and unreadable. There is a cruel calm in the way she studies you, as though she already knows exactly how this will end.
“M’lord,” she says, her tone low and reverent, “the one who bears the sword will be here soon.”
Skeletor’s jaw tightens, though his expression remains twisted with satisfaction. He turns slightly, the hem of his dark robes brushing the stone floor as he considers her words. Then he looks back at you, and the cruelty in his eyes deepens.
“Then send my minions to attack him,” he says. His voice echoes through the throne room, cold and absolute.
Claro. Aqui vai a cena ajustada em inglês, com o local correto, reações diferentes para a Teela e uma troca mais marcada entre você e o Adam quando ele percebe você presa:
“You're not going to defeat him,” you murmur, shaking your head as if the motion might help clear the fog still pressing at the edges of your mind.
Skeletor lets out a low, amused sound.
“Oh, your optimism is almost touching,” he says, pacing slowly in front of you. “But let’s be realistic. Your boyfriend will hand me that sword. One way or another.”
“He’s not my boyfriend,” you snap back at once, lifting your head as much as the chains allow. Your gaze locks onto him with all the defiance you can manage. “And he is not going to let you use him.”
Skeletor stops, tilting his skull slightly as though he is savoring your answer.
“Does Prince Adam truly have the luxury of refusing me?” he asks. “His parents are in my custody. Much of the population that supports him is imprisoned as well. And you, who are clearly important to him...” His voice drops into something almost gleeful. “You are my hostage. There is nowhere left for him to run.”
The words hit hard, and for one brief moment, you have nothing to say in return.
Then the heavy doors of Skeletor’s fortress slam open with a thunderous crash.
Adam bursts into the chamber at the front of the charge, the Sword of Power clenched tightly in his hand. He is followed by Teela, her weapon already raised and her expression focused and alert, and by Duncan, who comes in with the force of someone already annoyed by everything happening around him. The royal robot hurries in behind them, scanning the room with precise, mechanical urgency.
Adam’s eyes sweep the throne room, sharp and ready for battle, until they land on you.
Everything in his expression changes. For a split second, he simply freezes.
His brows draw together. His mouth parts slightly. Then his face shifts into something far more intense, raw shock giving way to immediate, unmistakable fear.
Your own breath catches. For a moment, you forget the chains, the pain, the cold stone at your back. All you can do is stare at him, and the look on his face makes your chest tighten in a way you are not prepared for.
“Adam...” you say, your voice low and strained, as if you cannot believe he is really there.
His gaze flicks over the chains binding you to the pillar, and the tension in his body sharpens at once.
“No,” he says under his breath, almost to himself, as if refusing to accept what he is seeing.
That is when Teela notices you properly. Her expression hardens instantly, but not in surprise. It is anger, controlled and focused, the kind that snaps into place the moment she understands exactly what Skeletor has done.
Duncan, on the other hand, reacts with open disbelief.
“What the hell did he do now?” he mutters, eyes darting from you to Skeletor and back again.
The robot’s voice comes in, calm and exact as ever.
“It would appear that the captive left behind was transported here by enemy means.”
Teela does not waste a second.
“Skeletor,” she says, each word edged with steel, “you are going to regret this.”
Adam does not even look at her. His entire focus is on you now, and his face has gone pale with a kind of fury that seems to shake through him.
“You’ve got her chained up?” he says, the words breaking out of him in disbelief.
You try to lift a hand, as much as the chains will allow, offering him the smallest, weakest wave you can manage.
“I’m fine,” you say, trying for steadiness and failing just enough that you hate how much he hears it.
That seems to affect him more than anything else. His jaw tightens. His grip on the Sword of Power shifts, knuckles whitening.
Skeletor spreads his arms as if he has orchestrated the whole scene for his own amusement.
“Welcome, Prince Adam,” he says, voice thick with mock courtesy. “How generous of you to arrive exactly when I wished. Now, we can settle this properly.”
Adam takes one step forward, eyes never leaving you.
“Let her go,” he says, low and dangerous.
Skeletor’s grin widens.
“Now that is no way to ask for a favor,” he replies. “Try again. Politely. And bring me the sword, and perhaps I will consider releasing her.”
The room falls silent.
Adam’s expression shifts again, and this time you see something else beneath the anger. Fear, yes, but also a fierce, almost reckless protectiveness that makes your throat tighten.
He looks at you once more, and this time the exchange between you is immediate, wordless, and painfully clear.
You hate that he is looking at you like this. He hates that you are the one caught in Skeletor’s trap. And neither of you likes how much the other seems to understand it without a single word.
Then Adam squares his shoulders, raising the Sword of Power. Skeletor has made his move. Now he is going to answer for it.
The clash begins in an instant.
Steel, magic, and raw force collide inside Skeletor’s fortress as Adam charges forward, the Sword of Power raised high. Teela moves with precision at his side, striking at the minions trying to surround them, while Duncan throws himself into the fight with desperate determination, using every device at his disposal to keep the path to you open.
For a brief, impossible moment, it looks as though they might actually reach you.
Then Evil-Lyn steps forward.
Her eyes lock onto you, cold and deliberate, and you feel the air around you shift at once. A wave of dark power slams into your body, searing through every nerve at once. Your whole frame jerks violently against the chains, a sharp cry tearing from your throat before you can stop it.
“Stop doing this to her,” Adam says instantly, his voice breaking through the chaos.
He turns toward you, panic flashing across his face as he sees you convulse in pain.
Evil-Lyn only smiles.
Skeletor remains still, watching the scene unfold with pleased interest, as if he had been waiting for this exact moment.
“Stop,” Adam orders one more time, taking a step toward you.
The pain worsens.
It steals your breath, bends you forward, and makes the room spin around the edges. You can barely register the others shouting, can barely hear Teela’s furious voice or Duncan calling for Adam to hold the line.
“Don’t care about me,” you force out through the agony, shaking your head despite the pain ripping through you. “I can handle the pain.”
Your voice is weak, fractured, but it reaches them.
Adam stares at you, torn apart by the choice in front of him.
Evil-Lyn tightens her hold on the magic, and your body arches again with a cry you cannot contain.
That is when Adam’s expression changes. Something in him breaks.
“Enough!” he shouts.
Before anyone can stop him, he lowers the Sword of Power.
Teela sees it first and looks at him in disbelief.
“No, Adam,” she says sharply, stepping toward him. “Don’t you dare.”
Duncan’s eyes widen.
“Adam, think,” he says, but the words already sound useless.
You shake your head hard, tears already streaming down your face as you look at him.
“Don’t give him what he wants,” you plead, the words trembling as they leave you. “Please. Don’t let him win this.”
"If this continues, you're going to die," Adam looks at you, and for one terrible second you can see how much he wants to keep fighting but he's willing to give up just to keep you safe.
Then Evil-Lyn’s magic surges again, and the pain rips through you so fiercely that it steals the rest of your strength.
Adam lowers the sword completely.
The light begins to leave it.
The power drains away in a sudden, devastating pulse, and the sight of it makes your breath catch in your throat. You feel as though the whole fortress has gone still around you.
Adam stumbles, his face filling with sadness as the Sword of Power goes dim in his hands.
“No...” he whispers.
Skeletor’s laughter cuts through the chamber.
He moves forward at once, snatching the sword from Adam with a triumphant motion. The moment his fingers close around it, the entire room seems to change, as though the balance of power itself has shifted.
You cry harder now, helpless and horrified, watching the impossible happen.
Adam turns toward you immediately, devastated.
“Let her go,” he says, his voice rough with rage and helplessness. “You have what you wanted. Release her.”
Skeletor does not even bother to look at him at first. He admires the sword in his grasp like a king receiving his crown.
“Not yet,” he says at last, amusement curling through every word. “Before I do anything else, I need everyone to witness this. I need them to see the moment I become the most powerful ruler Eternia has ever known.”
Teela looks ready to lunge at him, but Duncan catches her arm before she can throw herself into a fight they can no longer win. Adam stands frozen, breathing hard, his hands empty, his expression caught between fury and disbelief.
Then the fortress doors open again.
Two guards drag King Randor into the throne room.
He looks weakened from imprisonment, but the second his eyes find Adam, something in his face changes. The father and son stare at one another as if the rest of the room has disappeared.
“Adam...” Randor says, his voice hoarse.
Adam’s face crumples for a brief second before he forces himself to speak.
“Father.”
Randor takes a shaky breath, looking at the son he had not been able to protect.
“I am sorry,” he says quietly. “I should have done more. I should have protected you better.”
Adam shakes his head almost at once, anguish rising in his face.
“No,” he replies, his voice breaking. “It is me who failed you. I should have been stronger. I should have found a way to stop this.”
The moment is brief, fragile, and painfully human.
You watch them through tears, your chest aching at the sight of it, at the tenderness of a reunion that should never have taken place under these conditions.
Skeletor, however, has no interest in tenderness.
His patience snaps.
With one cruel motion, he lifts the Sword of Power and strikes King Randor down.
The sound that leaves Adam is not quite a shout and not quite a cry. It is something rawer than either, something torn straight from the center of him.
No one moves. For a heartbeat, the entire fortress seems suspended in silence, frozen around the violence of what has just happened.
And then Adam’s face hardens with grief, fury, and helpless horror all at once, while you sob openly, unable to look away from the devastation Skeletor has just caused.
King Randor lies still on the stone floor. Adam stares at him, frozen, as if refusing to accept what he sees. Teela goes rigid. Duncan pales. You are crying too hard to speak.
Adam drops to his knees beside his father. His breath comes in sharp, broken pulls.
“Father…” he whispers, voice barely audible.
There is no answer.
His hand hovers over Randor’s chest, trembling violently, stopping just short of contact. As if touching him would make it real. As if not touching him might still leave room for denial.
His face tightens, grief hitting him in waves that leave him shaking.
“I’m sorry,” he says, quieter now, the words collapsing under their own weight. “I should have stopped him… I should have—”
His voice breaks completely.
For a moment, he just stays there, kneeling, as if the world has narrowed to nothing but the stillness in front of him.
Then something inside him shifts. Slowly, Adam rises.
When he turns toward Skeletor, there is nothing left of hesitation in his expression, only grief sharpened into fury.
“You took him from me,” he says, voice low and shaking. “You took everything.”
Skeletor tilts his head, almost entertained. Adam steps forward. Each movement is controlled, but barely. His fists are clenched so tightly his arms tremble.
“I will end you,” he says. “I swear I will—”
“Adam, don’t!” you cry out, your voice breaking as you struggle against the chains. “Please, don’t let him take you too!”
That stops him for half a second. Just long enough for him to look at you.
“I can't just...” he starts, his voice cracking.
He never finishes.
Skeletor raises a hand.
The air detonates.
Dark energy slams into Adam, hurling him across the stone floor. Before he can recover, chains burst from the walls like living serpents, wrapping around his arms and chest, pinning him helplessly against one of the fortress pillars.
You struggle violently against your own restraints.
"Adam!"
He fights the chains with everything he has, muscles straining, refusing to stop trying to reach you.
Skeletor watches with a satisfied smile before slowly lifting the Sword of Power.
"So much hope..." he muses. "So much sacrifice."
He steps toward Adam, the blade gleaming with the last remnants of Grayskull's power.
"Let's see how your precious sword feels about destroying its own champion."
Adam meets his gaze without flinching.
"If you're going to kill me," he says through gritted teeth, "do it."
Skeletor smiles.
"As you wish."
He swings the Sword of Power down toward Adam.
The blade never reaches him.
A deafening pulse erupts from the weapon.
The entire fortress trembles.
Skeletor is thrown backward as golden light bursts from the sword in every direction, forcing everyone in the throne room to shield their eyes.
The Sword of Power vibrates violently in his hand.
"There is something wrong..." Evil-Lyn whispers, realizing what is happening.
Thin fractures race across the enchanted steel, each one blazing with brilliant light.
Skeletor roars in frustration, trying to force the weapon back under his control.
"I command you!"
The sword refuses.
With a blinding flash that fills the throne room, the Sword of Power shatters.
Hundreds of glowing fragments scatter through the air before crashing across the stone floor, their light slowly fading into silence.
For several long seconds, no one speaks.
Adam stares at the broken pieces in disbelief.
Teela's heart sinks.
Duncan closes his eyes for a brief moment, realizing what has been lost.
Even Evil-Lyn cannot hide her shock.
Skeletor slowly rises to his feet, still clutching the ruined hilt. His expression twists into uncontrollable fury.
"It chose destruction..." Duncan says quietly.
"...rather than serve you," Teela finishes.
Skeletor's eyes burn with hatred.
"So be it."
He thrusts his hand forward.
Heavy iron shackles burst from the floor and walls, reinforced by dark magic. Teela and Duncan are overwhelmed despite their resistance, while additional guards flood into the throne room to secure every prisoner.
"You've taken enough!" Adam shouts, struggling against the restraints until they bite into his wrists.
"I have taken nothing," Skeletor replies coldly. "I have merely delayed the inevitable."
He turns toward his soldiers.
"Throw them into the dungeons."
The guards obey immediately. Adam fights every step, twisting and pulling against the soldiers holding him, his eyes desperately searching for you.
You are dragged in the opposite direction, your chains rattling as you reach toward him.
"Leave him alone!"
He turns as far as his captors allow.
"I'll find you!" he shouts. "No matter what happens, I'll find you!"
Before you can answer, the massive prison doors swing open.
One by one, you, Adam, Teela, Duncan, and the others are dragged into the depths beneath Skeletor's fortress, where thick iron bars and enchanted restraints await.
The heavy cell doors slam shut behind you, and the echoes roll through the dungeons like thunder.
For the first time since arriving in Eternia...there is only darkness.
