i really wonder how much of gina and blake’s family dynamics might have influenced whatever went down between them when they were 15-16, versus how their family dynamics were influenced by what happened after. their parallels and differences don’t stop at just them two as characters, but it extends to their broader family, too - specifically, their mothers. from what little we know about blake’s mother (and only through her, really, so it’s biased to a degree), i wonder if she would have ever even allowed her daughter, at 15-16 years old, to be poached by viktor the way that gina was - to the full extent that gina was, especially. similarly, i wonder how on board gina’s mother was with her teenaged daughter being snatched up by a record label in an industry that everybody, without knowing anything else, understands is very predatory, or if her attitude shifted once the money started coming in. i wonder how complicit gina’s mother was in how controlled her life became by viktor, and i wonder if blake’s mother would have done more to protect her if their roles were reversed. i guess it’s just a little ironic, for all that blake wants to take gina down and, i assume to some degree, take her place, or even reclaim her place depending on how blake sees it, that i don’t think she’d have ever reached the extent of fame that gina has - specifically, though, because i personally doubt she’d ever be quite as controlled by a man that only wants to use her to make money from such an early age. but maybe that’s my bias showing lol.

which is all just to say, of course, that i wonder if gina misses blake’s mother the way that mc misses lucy…
