Okay so I wrote a novel but I liked the question a lot. Hope this a hot read and not too much lol

I definitely still struggle with my brain and body connecting actually understanding how fat I really am lol.

The mattress doesn't have sheets anymore. That's not what breaks him, but later, when he's trying to piece together the timeline of how everything went wrong, it's the detail he'll keep circling back to. When did the sheets stop? When did a bare, medical-grade waterproof pad become the surface his body lives on, and why didn't he say something when it happened?

Right now, though, Nate isn't thinking about sheets. He's thinking about rolling over, because his left hip has gone numb beneath him, a deep dead feeling that means the weight of himself has cut off circulation again, and if he doesn't shift soon the pins-and-needles phase will hit and that's worse. So he tries. Plants his palm flat on the mattress, fingers sinking into the foam. Tightens his core, or tries to, searching for abdominal muscles buried somewhere beneath the vast soft hill of his belly. Pushes.

Nothing.

His body doesn't roll. It barely rocks. The momentum dies inside all that mass, absorbed like sound into snow, and all he manages is a slight compression of the fat along his right side before gravity pulls him back to exactly where he was. His arm gives out. His breathing goes ragged from the effort, three seconds of effort, and his heartbeat fills his ears with a wet, urgent thumping.

He tries again. Both hands this time, pressing down, neck straining, teeth clenched. His belly shifts, a slow liquid ripple of flesh that travels outward from his center, and for a second he gets maybe fifteen degrees of rotation before the sheer volume of his left thigh, pressed and fused against his right thigh by soft fat that fills every gap between them, refuses to follow. He's pinned by himself. Anchored by the body he's living inside.

The sound he makes isn't voluntary. It comes from somewhere behind his sternum, guttural and childlike, and once it's out he can't take it back and can't stop what follows….
