Athena Nangala Granites. “Napalijarri-Warnu Jukurrpa (Seven Sisters Dreaming)
ID / TL;DW: young Black man explains the history of voodoo dolls: they originated in England, where Black people where prohibited from learning to read or write, to help witches keep track of what ailed their patients. Eg., person goes to witch and laments headache, they treat their headache and make a small doll (called "poppet"), trying to represent them as good as possible, stick a needle in its head and put it up a shelf. When they return next week, the witch takes their poppet and asks about their headache. If it's gone, they remove the needle, otherwise they know they have to treat a rather persistent headache.

William Blamire Young (1862 – 1935) was an English-born Australian illustrator who mastered watercolour. Young began working as maths teacher, appointed in 1885 to Katoomba College, New South Wales. Young practiced his painting during his spare time and received some instruction form cartoonist, Phil May. Young's first visual arts appointment was art advertising manager to the Austral Cycle Agency, Melbourne. He successfully exhibited and sold watercolours in Melbourne and Sydney. In 1911, Young was commissioned to produce designs for the first Commonwealth of Australia stamps. Young served as firearms instructor during the First World War. In his later years, he worked as an art critic for the Australian newspaper, The Herald.

um actually there's nothing wrong with letting cats be outdoor pets. your cat is depressed locked inside forever. it's animal abuse. let it outside. more cats should be let outside more often. especially overnight.
people so hellbent on calling pluto a planet because they see a dwarf planet classification as "lesser". but i bet they can't name one other dwarf planet. is it actually a "lesser" classification, or do you just not care about science?
time to learn about more dwarf planets
this is Ceres. she's a dwarf planet in the asteroid belt, in between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. she was discovered on Jan 1st 1801 by Giuseppe Piazzi, 45 years BEFORE Neptune was discovered. like Pluto, it was originally classified as a planet before being reclassified in 2006
its a little blurry, but this JWST picture is of Eris. discovered in 2005, it was called the "tenth planet" for a time, before its official reclassification. it's actually more massive than Pluto, about 27% more to be precise. although Pluto is very slightly larger.
Haumea is another Trans Neptunian Object (TNO) and dwarf planet with several moons. fun fact about her is that based on calculations, its very likely that she's egg shaped, or at least very oblong.
Makemake (pronounce mah ke mah ke) is another dwarf planet far beyond the orbit of Neptune. a recent JWST exposure hinted at the presence of methane gas, which would make it the second ever TNO with gas. although at the moment its unclear if this is an atmosphere or vents from seismic activity.
i bet everyone reading this post has learned at least one cool thing just now. and that's my goal. i had fun writing this post, and i also leaned some new things.
dwarf planets are not "lesser" than the main 8 planets. they are a different classification based mainly on size and orbit. and the thing is, there are a Massive amount of TNOs that we can't possibly label all of them as planets or even dwarf planets. space is big. even just our solar system is massive and scientists are discovering new things all the time.
and because we learn new things all the time, our older understanding gets updated. we change our perspectives, we accept new formulas or scientific theories, and we reclassify things that dont fit in with our new models of how the universe works.
Pluto wasn't "kicked out of the cool planets club". if you want to personify celestial bodies, you can say she found a new family, and she'd love for you to meet them. so please don't misgender (misclassify) her.

This individual is has aberrant coloration. I have personally never seen one bright red like this - "Erythristic".
