Gray Fullbuster and his unhealthy attachment to Fairy Tail my beloved. Itās so not discussed in this fandom but it makes his character so much more realistic. No, itās not healthy that Gray is willing to mutilate and put himself in dangerous situations for his guild mates. No, he shouldnāt have to put up with relentless stalking and abuse just because sheās his guild mate. No! The people who are supposed to be his family shouldnāt have watched it happen and laugh at him!!
I genuinely feel like too many people in the Fairy Tail Fandom are unwilling to acknowledge that the guild isnāt perfect. That makes the dynamic so much more intriguing to me! I could make this post about anyone in team kickass, all of whom have some unhealthy attachment to Fairy Tail. Gray however faces the most outward abuse in the form of the guild letting Juvia continue to do whatever she wants. Lucy seeās herself as āotherā in the guild because she views herself as weak (especially early FT Lucy.) Wendy went from watching her the guild that raised her fade away and then was immediately thrown into a whole new one with no knowledge of what it was like to join a real guild. Erza was literally a slave before Fairy Tail, and is also always putting herself in harms way to protect it. Natsu isnāt willing to view Fairy Tail as anything other than perfect and has hurt people who have so much as bad mouthed the guild.
Thatās not even touching on the Thunder Legion! We donāt know much about them, but we know that they were ostracized from the guild because of their magic even before the battle of Fairy Tail.
It makes the dynamic so much more intriguing if you can acknowledge how these are literally a pack of trauma bonded orphans
