(Prev tags, I can't @ you for some reason)
#the jdrama#the thai drama is a close second bc they based it largely off the jdrama#the anime/manga is okay and i like the fact that the story continued but#i don't...*like* the leads that much in the manga/anime#in the beginning at least#I'm not interested in Bitter Emos as protagonists#and tbh people who say shit like 'go play in traffic normies' have always treated me pretty badly irl#so Mangadachi was very offputting at the start#and Mangasawa just didn't have Machida Keita's charm and sincerity#He came off as pushy and a little predatory#that Sink Scene rubs me the wrong way#i also love how Fujisaki and Rokkaku are actually friends with our boys and their presence actually does affect the plot#Tsuge is less obnoxious too#like he's bitter but he's genuinely a good friend to adachi#the jdrama also benefits from having a clear story arc and direction#whereas the manga meanders a bit and therefore the anime--which follows the manga--does as well#feels a bit directionless#also the ending is SUPER rushed in the anime#also the jdrama did lots of fun little things like color-coding the leads and designing the sets to match the characters' personalities#overall the jdrama just feels kinder softer more thoughtful and more loving#and since the thai drama leans on the jdrama it's also wonderfully good-natured#so i'd do the thai drama next#disclaimer that this is One Person's Opinion Based on Her Own Personal Tastes#cherry magic
Ahh I see, thanks for letting me know. That is disappointing about the anime/manga, one of the things I love most about jdrama!Adachi is how relatable he is in his quiet, resigned forlorness and feelings of directionlessness upon turning 30. And yet he is still kind, and not jaded or bitter.
