I will be honest I prefer the resigned, depressed Adachi of the jdrama. While thai drama Achi is in the same stagnant phase of life as Adachi, he doesn't really seem to have the same deeply internalized feelings of mediocrity and insecurity over it. Also the thai drama in general is a lot brighter, from the music choices, to the color palette, to the acting choices. It's taking some getting used to.

Are there any stories where the bad guy deafeats the protagonist and is like "join me and we can rule together!" And the protag is like "shoot okay i guess that sounds like the best option right now all things considered" and it isnt until like 5 minutes or maybe a day or two later they're like "crap I made a really big mistake how do I get out of this one?"
Partly because seeing heroes repent from genuine sins is really interesting and in real life this kind of offer is much more compelling and practical sounding for most people than the universal rejection in fiction makes it sound, but also just because I've always really wanted to see what it would look like for the bad guy to follow through with that
