Been feeling down and out for a while now so o complain to the doc about it. He says (combind with my speifics) it could be this or that or some other or depression, asks if any of it runs in the family, all of it does, so he orders some extra blood work.
Fast forward get a call from the docs, blood work is normal. "What did doc say about the possible depression?"
Nonthing! Didn't even put "might have depression" or anything like that on file!
People who object to trans people being in fantasy are wild. This is the magic of hydraulics!
While I can't be certain, let's assume a cylinder ID of d=100mm.
Based on the circle area being A=πr² (and r=½d), we get 2500π mm², or about 78.5398163397448309 cm².
The typical hydraulic operating pressure of a large excavator is 200-350 bar.
While technically being defined differently (specifically, one bar being 100,000 Pascal/100,000 N/m²), one bar can be approximated to 1 kg/cm². Now that's wrong on several levels because 10N / 9.80665m/s² ≠ 1kg, and also that's using kilograms as a unit of force, but this is napkin math.
200 kg/cm² × 78.5 cm² = 15,700 kg
350 kg/cm² × 78.5 cm² = 27,475 kg
So, depending on the cross-sectional area of the cylinder and the actual operating pressure, we can expect something between 15-30 tons of force between those jaws (but that may be an optimistic guess, because the cylinder is at an angle to the jaw, diminishing its effective force).
But the rocks in here also look like limestone, which is somewhat soft, and I'd expect it to be weaker under point loading like we see here than under bulk stress like as part of a wall.
So I decided to also go another route and just look up that model.
Going by image search, it looks like an Indeco IFP 28X (which you can also somewhat make out on the green sticker)
Their data sheet states a maximum operating pressure of 350 bar, and a maximum clamping force at the tip of 355 tons.
That's not a little error in guessing cylinder diameter or sth, that's an ORDER OF MAGNITUDE in difference.

Last time I did a rimworld playthrough I wanted to spice it up, so I bought some DLC and decided to make a themed run out of it. As it turns out the biotech dlc allows you to make cat people, so I decided my theme would be catgirl maids. Because funny. I genuinely thought it'd just be fun if everybody was a catgirl maid. I downloaded a mod for maid dresses and I created a custom xenotype for catgirls. I didn't really want catboys though, so I got a mod that allowed you to constrict xenotypes to a specific gender.
I then wanted to give myself some sort of incentive to keep up with the theming because otherwise I'd naturally begin to deviate and there wouldn't be any point. So using the ideology dlc, I made them all hate non-catgirls. I didn't know how I felt about making them racist, but... catgirls are the best
So everyone in the colony would gain a buff if everyone was a catgirl, but they would get a massive debuff if there was even one non-catgirl.
But if I did that I now needed a way to gain more catgirls or otherwise the colony would gradually lose all its population. It's not like catgirls grow on trees. I got a mod that revamps romance and fixes the frankly terrible vanilla implementation of homo/bi sexualities. I configured the mod so that bisexuality was universal for the whole planet, which imho should be how all games work. It also allows women to impregnate each other.
That's too slow though. I could throw in high libido and high fertility to help, but it's not enough. I need to be able to recruit grown adults into the colony without penalties. Genetic modification is the obvious choice, but as it turns out it doesn't change your classification to Catgirl, even if you are genetically equivalent to one. I consulted a friend and she suggested i use the Gene Implanter gene, which is typically used by vampires to create more vampires. Interestingly this is the flavor text for Gene Implanter:
Carriers of this gene can implant a copy of their xenogerm into another person through a somewhat gross-looking injector organ. Their own genetic material will then regrow very slowly.
So that's cool I guess. The only way to create more catgirls is by giving them the injector organ. This successfully changes their gender too since it confers the female only gene, but it doesn't alter their body type, some of which are male only. This wasn't a big deal, but I added a mod that allows you to surgically alter that just in case.
It was at this point that I realized that I had accidentally created a society of horny fertile catgirls that capture men, forcefem them by penetrating them with their organ and implanting their genetic material, and make them wear maid dresses. And they're all gay and transgender. Because it's strategically optimal.
It bugs me so much that I still have such a soft spot for Starbound. I tried to hate it but I have to be honest. I don’t hate it. I just hate that it smelks like wasted potential.

Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]
For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.

Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016). There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.

okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back
“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.

Have you ever wanted to play a cute monster taming game with lots of love and heart put into every inch and corner of it by a Team of fantastically talented artists?
Me too!! Too bad it got cancelled literally a few weeks before it was going to be anounced!
Artist Nicholas Kole on twitter along with many other talented artists have been sharing their work of nearly 4 years on this game. I cant imagine the heartbreak of working so hard on this project only for it to get canceled right before Release and everyone on the Team to get laid off.
It was meant to be an open world, minecraft inspired builder, with all sorts of unique creatures with various skins, variations depending on biomes, and even petting animations. That you could tame! It also had a large amount of beautiful and unique character customization. Here's some of the art ( NOT MY ART ) for the project!
Apparently alot of this game was near finished, coded, etc! ( ART ABOVE IS BY NICHOLAS KOLE , JOHANNES FIGLHUBER, INES MARSAL, AND MARIA LOBANOVA )
I dont know if the artists can look into crowdfunding ( the Studio still may own the IP ) , but myself and a few others have been trying to get the hashtag #bringbackprojectdragon get some traction on twitter! Maybe if the internet raises enough stink, the Studio might pay attention. Im not sure how likely that is but I desperately want thus game to exsist, it would be a dream game for me and many others im sure. So please consider joining in if you have a twitter.

Hey Y'all! Not dead, just padding out the posts more... We've done a lot since the last post!
So we're back from hiatus obviously... And we've been doing a lot of art since then. But, unfortunately most of the work has been coding/system dev related. Which isn't that exciting.
In the images above you can see a dirt tileset with lighting disabled, and in the following...
... You can see a basalt one!
Note: the dirt tileset has many alternate appearances to prevent obvious repetition, which is a completely new system in its own right! Different variants can also be weighted differently, for example... Variants with gray pebbles are about 1/8th as common as the other tilesets.
The dirt tileset also has variable shapes, but all tile types will have this functionality... Exactly like Terraria.
Besides all that, we've actually completely finished our first-pass on collision! This includes ray-casts and point collision, check out the raycast hitting a slope!
Very cool!
Anyway, It's difficult to predict what happens next... But I would like to look into entities, characters and animation next. That seems like the next logical step... But we've also done some world generation work, so that may even be first.
