You know, I don’t think we in the FF14 community talk enough about the fact that Lahabrea secretly possessed Thancred and immediately slipped into perfect character with a barrage of dumb puns.
He got the bad puns down to a T, but the funny thing is, with hindsight, he’s actually horrendously out of character. Thancred is known as an exceptional intelligence agent. While yes, Lahabrea-posing-as-Thancred is making a joke here, he’s laying it on a bit thick. And hindsight makes this so much funnier.
Minor Endwalker spoilers: but I think what makes this funnier is in Endwalker, Thancred has some remote lines after a very certain instance in the 83 area.
The first image is right after you finish the instance and before you complete the quest. The second one is just before accepting the next.
But yes, good ol’ Uncle Bread certainly did a good job getting right into character as the man with the doctorate in being James Bond with the puns.
Lahabrea got the puns down cuz he just had to reach back to his natural Fatherhood tendencies. Dad jokes he could do, the rest was a lot harder. Imagine Lahabrea trying to flirt, I mean, we’ve seen how THAT turned out the first time…
