Pulte will be pulling double duty as he is also head of Fannie Mae and has been responsible for the failed accusations against Comey and James for purported mortgage fraud.

What makes this appointment particularly dangerous is that as the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Pulte misused his power to target Trump's political "enemies" and to accuse them (usually falsely) of mortgage fraud.
Trump undoubtedly believes that if Pulte is in charge of DNI, rather than focusing on the many international dangers to US national security, Pulte will use the intelligence system to spy on Trump's political "enemies" and find (or magnify) dirt on them so that the DOJ can prosecute them.
Trump is preoccupied with retribution, putting his name on everything, and building golden memorials to himself. He does not care at all about the American people.
