TODAY IS MY BLUEBERRY BOY’S BIRTHDAY!!!! YAY!!! 💙💙💙😍😍😍

It’s no surprise that Cardfight Vanguard (the og 2011 version that is) was one of the non Yugioh card game anime’s that I really enjoyed while I was growing up, especially with it’s main protagonist, Aichi Sendou. And since today is his birthday, I’ve drawn him in his current G-series self who happens to be hugging his old past self as to symbolize both the journey he gone through from the person he was in the beginning and the comfort and reassurance that a bright future is waiting for him. I even gone with a watercolor style direction for this drawing to add to that light and nostalgic feeling and added in some peonies for the background thanks to their meanings of prosperity, good fortune, bravery, honor and even love and bashfulness; all of which fit Aichi as a whole. (Also adding on to the fact that in irezumi (traditional Japanese tattoos), peonies are often paired with fierce creatures to represent the harmony between masculine ferocity and refined feminine beauty. Like lions, koi fish, or perhaps dragons? 😏)

Either way, I really love how it turned out in the end and enjoyed having to draw Aichi again in my style for this special occasion 🥰.

Dropping in some old character art that I have laying around. And as you can here, yep, these two characters happened to be inspired by Gangle from The Amazing Digital Circus, mixed in with old porcelain dolls and Furina/Focalors from Genshin Impact 🎀🎭🎪.

Even tho they’re not official cures, I’m going to do a redesign of Satoru and Daifuku’s cure forms from Wonderful Precure anyways given how plain and simple they are. Which isn’t to say that they’re very bad or ugly, just basically lacking in something in their cure forms compared to the girls. And given that I like to redesign character designs with some extra whimsy in them, I happen to based them off of a traditional stage magician and the magician’s assistant, given magician’s often put out a rabbit during their tricks, mixed with Ouji fashion cuz I thought that it would look very cool on them.

He he but seriously tho. Cause I’ve been doing ocs drawings here and here, I wanted to take a break from that by drawing some actual anime characters. And with this year’s Mermay almost over, it’s no surprise that I happened to draw Laura from Tropical Rouge Precure as to end Mermay with a bang, and overall had so much fun in having to draw her in my style. (even though I haven’t seen Tropical Rouge myself despite being familiar with it, but, after drawing Laura, I figured I’d try to see this series for myself sometime soon)

Plus, I also thought that having these floating bubbles featuring her friends/cure team inside would add a nice touch to the final drawing as Laura happens to be part of the Tropical Rogue Team as well. That and I really hammed on the overlaying textures, lightning, and blur features during the drawing process cuz why not lol.

(and yeah, before you ask, I did copy and paste the team from the official poster of Tropical Rouge in the bubbles. But I did my best to make sure that it’s legible enough to pass as a good drawing element via the lighting and bluring features)
