I remember years ago, long enough ago that I was still using either Tiktok or Instagram regularly, because that's where I saw this, long enough ago that unfortunately I do not remember the username, I saw an older trans woman responding to a comment asking "how come we see trans women from your generation, but never trans men?" And her response was simple. "Unfortunately, it's because most of them are dead." Between lack of safe and legal abortions (which, hey, look what's an issue again), the HIV/AIDs crisis (which still is lacking in approved treatments for trans men, and they're still likely to be denied PrEP/PEP even when they should be eligible as sexually active queer men), and how many of them chose to take their own lives after being forced into marriages and other women's roles, a lot of the trans men that should be elderly right now did not make it.
And now, when I find myself making the mistake of going on Instagram, I get to see trans men themselves talking about how historically, trans men didn't do anything for the community, and so we need to step up now. Which, first of all, that isn't true, but second of all, if trans men's contributions are lesser, that makes a lot of sense if we listen to that trans woman talking about the trans men she was in community with back in the day. It's very hard to advance the trans cause if you're not alive.
Anyway. It's a really chilling answer. "Where are all the elderly trans men?" "They're dead." And I just wish more people saw that tiktok and listened to it and really took it to heart, now that we're in the age of "well obviously trans men have it so much easier."

Hey. Why isnβt the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isnβt that fucked up? Does anyone else think thatβs absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! Thatβs a big deal! Iβve never thought about it before but now that I have, itβs ridiculous to me that thatβs not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why donβt we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
Itβs July 20th. Thatβs the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. Iβm ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and Iβm going to have a goddamn potluck. Youβre all invited.

Is it even possible to be passably androgynous in the "thin and hairless" way? T makes you gain weight and body hair. Either you don't go on t and you get gendered as a woman or you go on t and gain weight and body hair. Maybe you'll be androgynous, but not thin and hairless. I always see people complain about "thin and hairless theyfabs" but it doesn't even seem like a possible transition endpoint.
I mean, some people are relatively hairless, and naturally growing body hair does not in fact mean one cannot be hairless. There are plenty of people with testosterone-dominant bodies that are thin and hairless. Shaving and other forms of hair removal. As for weight, I went on T and didn't gain much weight on account of natural body stuff and feeding disorder stuff. I wish testosterone just magically made body fat appear on your body no matter what.
It's more possible for some people than others, and that's regardless of gender assigned at birth. & in general you are making a lot of sweeping statements here. Not everyone who goes on T is gonna get fat and hairy, and its not like once you go on T you are only allowed to take a certain dose and no other medication and never shave or anything. I agree that for people going on testosterone HRT things are definitely a lot more complicated when it comes to how many of us are actually perceived, but stereotypes are not really helped by making overly broad statements.
