Ironically, America does ALSO include a “strange mythical [desert] land full of nihilistic emos having sex”; it’s just that instead of “all the time” it’s a week-long annual festival called Burning Man which takes place every late August/early September in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada (the state next to the state where Death Valley is). Yes, of COURSE the name comes from the giant humanoid effigy that they burn every year, amidst taking a lot of drugs and having a lot of sex.
