Love leaves scars.

When it comes to the past, everyone writes fiction.

I don’t know that we are ever really okay in life, but there are times when we feel closer to it - when we don’t remember what it feels like to suffer.

She was very intelligent, very perceptive, but she would throw caution to the winds to follow her feelings, even to her own detriment. In some ways she's had a raw deal in life, because she feels things so deeply. Nobody guesses that—or when they do, they take advantage.

The world is difficult and we are all breakable. So just be kind.

No matter who you choose to go down the road with, you're gonna get hurt. That's just the nature of caring about someone. No matter who you love, they will break your heart along the way.

I think we've all lost some kind of feeling.

I get really angry at people who are mean to other people. Isn't life hard enough without people making it worse for each other? I think the people who do, who set out to make others feel bad, feel bad and alone themselves and they don't want to feel alone, so they make other people feel bad. So they'll just feel bad but also maybe, not so alone.

For me, forgiveness and compassion are always linked. How do we hold people accountable for wrongdoing and yet, at the same time, remain in touch with their humanity enough to believe in their capacity to be transformed?

It is a wonderful thing to know and understand friendship. It is a gift, without question. I have been blessed with a handful of the most extraordinary friends, whose allegiance and devotion have, again and again in my life, lifted me up.
