A girl at work realized Iâm in my final semester and asked what I want to do after I graduate and I thought about that my whole shift and I really just want to go on vacation somewhere anywhere where I can hike for two months straight and come back sore and sunburned and happy instead of this angry shell of a human being that the past five years has made me.
I really want my future daughter to grow up with more confidence than I did.
Think of all the adjectives youâve ever heard in your life. I know thereâs a lot, the list goes on and on. You just thought of tonnes didnât you? Letâs narrow it down.
Specifically think of adjectives that could be used to describe someoneâs appearance. The list should be ever so slightly smaller. Go through all the adjectives you can think of, some spring to mind quicker than others; young, old, tall, short. Others might take a while to think of; dowdy, elfin, slovenly.Â
Weâd probably be listing adjectives for a while before we ever got to âmolestableâ right? Surely, no human being would describe another person as molestable. But alas, I spoke to a customer for approximately fifteen seconds before he opened his mouth and what came out was: âYou look very molestable.â

Skyrim npc: get out of my house
Me: what the fuck

Bad News: Our boss locked the keys inside the building.
Good News: We didnât have to wait around for a locksmith.
Bad News: My boss finds it very concerning that I know how to pick locks, and tried to unlock my Tragic Backstoryâ˘. I was too embarrassed to admit that the reason I learned was because, at thirteen, I figured that was the kind of skill that would impress cute girls.
Good News: A cute girl saw me do it.
Bad News: It was Maggie, and since sheâs already seen me fall out of several trees, cry because I saw a fawn that was just too damn small, and knows I can ride a unicycle, sheâll never think Iâm cool no matter what I do. Itâs too late. She knows.
Maggie needs to check her priorities.

its so important to have disabled presence in childrenâs media, disabled kids grow up with really harmful messages about being burdens, ugly and unwanted and that needs to be challenged, we need to be showing disabled kids that theyâre valued and amazing
like I remember a few years ago here in the UK, there was a disabled woman, Cerrie Burnell, whoâs right arm ends a little past her elbow, who did some presenting on kids tv and parents wrote in and complained about her and said she was scary for children and shouldnât be there because she was disabled
children are seen as being needed to be sheltered from the ~terrifying~ and ~horrifying~ reality of disabled people and that really hurts disabled kids and also massively contributes to adults hating and fearing disabled people since thatâs what they were taught to do as kids
whether itâs disabled presenters or disabled characters, childrenâs media has to do more to acknowledge and celebrate disabled people
This is so important. We are unlikely to go through life without a single member of our family or a single friend being disabled. Disability is not uncommon. Disabled presence in media in general helps disabled children, helps children who will become disabled in early adulthood, helps children who have disabled classmates and friends, helps children whose parents are or may become disabled, helps parents who will have disabled children, helps teachers who will have disabled students etc etc on and on. When I became disabled at age 20 the one school friend who stayed in touch, who didnât ghost, had a mother with MS. I am 90% sure thatâs what made the difference between her and the friends who just didnât know how to deal with me.
15 percent of the world population are people with disabilities. Thatâs one in every seven people on the face of the Earth, a total of one billion people. If disabled people were our own country then we would be the third most populous country in the world, behind only China and India.
And yes, some conditions are age related, so the older you are the higher the odds of eventually becoming disabled.
BUT. Â Even among children aged 0 to 14, about five percent of the worldâs population of children have disabilities. Thatâs one in every 20, still not that small a number.
The media does not even BEGIN to reflect the real portion of disabled people in the population.
it would also be really great if all representations and histories of disability werenât so heavily whitewashed. it would be great to see more discourse about ableism that isnât erasive of and participating in the inherent colonialism and racism itâs built upon but I guess you canât have it all. #disabilitysowhite

Angry men stamp their adorable little feet after Marines degender job titles
After allowing women to serve in combat roles, the United States Marines Corps plans to update various specialty titles to be ungendered. Insecure men are angry about this.
Antitank Missilemen, for example, will now be Antitank Gunners instead. Operations Men will henceforth be Operations Chiefs. Most of the changes just replace the word âmanâ with the world âmarine.â Where a literary barbarism is unavoidable, gendered titles will be kept. For example, itâs still going to be Riflemen, not Rifleperson/Riflemarine. And yet, the rage.
âOn one hand, the name changes from âmanâ to âpersonâ or whatever they want to call it doesnât really matter. They could call mortarmen bakers for all I care,â said Sgt. Geoff Heath, a Marine rifleman with multiple combat deployments. âBut on the other, itâs a direct reflection on societyâs crybaby political correctness.â

where âcrybaby political correctnessâ actually means âwah iâm actually the crybaby and why canât things just be how theyâve always been waaaahhhhâ

PEOPLE ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT THIS DOGS MASCULINITY
HES A DOG
no you donât understand. People freak the fuck out if you donât enforce human gender roles on dogs. They get fucking belligerent. I work in a pet store and the number of times people have gotten LIVID with me for not just automatically assuming their dog not only required but personally wanted the most stringent enforcement of human gender norms is mindblowing.
People demand dog shampoos that smell âmasculineâ because âHeâs a boy he doesnât want to smell like flowersâ even though heâs a dog and if he had his way he would smell like duck poop. And those shampoos exist! Thatâs the worst part! Thereâs enough demand for dog shampoo that smells like Axe body spray that they exist and they sell well.
Or the seemingly nice old lady that shouted âPINK! OBVIOUSLY! SHEâS GIRL SHE HATES OTHER COLORS!â at me when i asked what color harness she wanted for her lapdog. Even though her dog canât actually see the color pink and does not now and will not ever give a single flying dog fart what color her harness is.

In a study of students at a Colorado university, attractiveness in women was linked to better grades. But, the difference disappeared for online classes.
The researchers found that the women judged as least attractive earned significantly lower grades, after controlling for their ACT scores. The best-looking women earned higher grades. And, male professors were more likely than female professors to give better-looking women higher grades.
But hereâs what the studyâs lead author, Rey HernĂĄndez-JuliĂĄn, calls the âkey findingâ: When these same exact students took online courses, where appearance is not an issue, the benefits of being pretty all but disappeared.
Jesus fucking christ
This is disgusting.
