god damn peter benton is really THAT character to me. phenomenal surgeon, sober, vegetarian, learning asl for his baby who he’s obsessed with, extremely withholding of praise and acknowledgement, his med student is STILL obsessed with getting his validation years later, he’s just…… he’s that girl you know??

I love when John Carter cares too fuckin much
The writers of ER really should have let Carter have a happy ending. That man was meant to be a dad and you can't convince me otherwise.
I mean, look at how happy he was every time he helped deliver a baby. Look how good he was with kids. His own family life was horrible, but you can't tell me that man didn't want kids of his own to love and cherish.

Something about the way Carter says “I’m in a lot of pain” in this scene. The way he was laughing and making a joke out of it, but then got very serious when he said that line. He wasn’t just talking about physical pain, he was talking about emotional pain (both of which were why he started doing drugs). He was crying out for help.
That "Look, I'm gonna be fine-- or, I hope-- No, I will be," alone is capital C Concerning. Not only not fine, but wavering on the line, unsure if it will ever be different. It's not hidden.
my favourite thing is watching Pitt fans live blog their first ER watch and see their love of watching Carter get whumped slowly turn to horror then exhaustion then righteous outrage because same, brother.
