“Noah is somebody who understands what it means to set the tone. The people who have to be the best actors on The Pitt are always the patients. We have hours and hours of work to tell an arc for our story, but the patients have to come in and deliver immediately — no time. They must have done the prep, and they all do. Noah will go out of his way to introduce himself, shake their hand, and explain a little bit about how things work. He’ll say, ‘If anything makes you feel uncomfortable, here’s our system.’ They have a tap system if someone feels like things are getting too real or they can’t catch their breath. He’s so warm and sweet when he does it. He also stays incredibly social. In the middle of telling a story, you’ll hear, ‘Rolling,’ and he’ll go shoot a scene full of medical jargon. Then it’s ‘Cut!’ and he comes right back to finish the story. He’s found a way to compartmentalize so he can switch between being Noah and Robby on a dime. I think of Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 when the tentacles come out and he starts managing the solar energy — that’s how Noah operates on set. He’s got all these invisible tentacles making sure everything is in order, and he’s been able to cultivate this warm sunlight on The Pitt.”
