Anyway thinking immortal jason with the league of assassins au, combined with the fact that Dick hallucinates him, so after he's out of the grave, any time that jason is dead his spirit is actually there manifesting with Dick, controlling the hallucination he sees (it's not always Jason, but it's a way to latch onto the living world, a person he knows, someone carrying a little bit of his soul with them)

Dick doesn't discuss it, obviously. He thinks its all his hallucination. His brother crying, saying that he's trying to dig his way out of the grave but he keeps dying to suffocation? Saying he's in an alley frozen to death again? Saying that the League has him, studying him?

It's nightmare fuel, of course, but its not real.

And Jason can't recall what his disembodied spirit knows and does when he's alive again.

But when he's dead, he can see just how much he's missed. How Dick talks to him even if he doesn't think he's real. Knows Dick sees him when he's not there. If only he could make Dick listen, he could come home. Even if he disagrees on things, even if he's so very angry (and that anger runs cold), he can see that they CARE.

They just need to prove it to him while he's living, too.

I have over 600 words from tonight already :D And if anyone wants, I can post the original scrapped idea for a reveal as well!

Up close, Neku can see the purple eyeshadow. The white mascara, the thick black eyeliner. How delicately Josh must’ve worked to get his makeup perfect. He’s still leaning against Josh’s side, one hand grasped around Joshua’s. Even with the reassurances, it’s always better to make sure that he can’t escape. Again. Their relationship isn’t ever going to be what it once was. Those shards of shattered glass that Neku doesn’t remember. That phone-call, the stench of the dead body he found. All he has are impressions and faceless horrors. Maybe it’s foolish. All he has are the holes where something used to be. His dead body became the foundation atop those empty caverns, blood from Joshua’s own bullets pooling in the gaps. Everything they’ve built is atop his own flesh, lie upon lie puncturing him, and maybe someday there’ll be nothing of himself left. Maybe Neku is foolish, but Joshua is solid, is here. Yuuto wasn’t a lie born to hide, the name and face were lies to show the truth. “You know,” he murmurs, rubbing his thumb against the back of Joshua’s hand, “you were very bad at keeping this a secret.”
