Resident Evil 6 - Update
Its around 10 weeks now till the release of the much anticipated (for me at least) Resident Evil 6. Since my previous post regarding the game, there has been much thrown out in to the rumour mill or generally in to public eye. Lets start off with the campaigns and what we know of them. First of all, I'll start with Chris 'Steroid' Redfield. Since his last outing in Resident Evil 5, he seems to have toned down those bulging biceps a little, which is good. His campaign however, hasn't changed its feel from Resident Evil 5. From what we can gather from the gameplay trailers that have been released, its all Action filled, gun spraying fun. Not really giving much back to the fans in what they'd like Resident Evils direction to go back to. From the GamePlay we have seen, it can only be classed to me as Call Of Duty in 3rd Person with a viral outbreak.
Next we'll go to Leon S. Kennedy. His campaign finally goes back more towards the roots of Resident Evil, the survival horror. In one gameplay trailer (viewed here) they mostly opt for cheap scares however it works. With his co-op partner Helena Harper also in close chase, I forsee her as being as irritating as Ashley Graham in RE4. Tracking through a darkened University seems quite a good idea with some brilliant ways they could get some scares in to us if executed perfectly. Lets just hope it doesn't decend in to some cheap scare tactics or more of a Chris campaign with gun spraying... Now to the newbie of the group, Jake Miller. Jake, aka Albert Weskers son, is teamed up with a much grown up Sherry Birkin. Last time there was any sight of Sherry was back in Resident Evil 2 with Claire Redfield (be nice to see her about again aye?) and Leon S. Kennedy. Now Jake isn't a Action filled or Survival, his is more of a punch you in the face and run from the big ass Nemesis of RE6. Now with Jake being Weskers son, I expect we could see some pretty interesting fights utilizing powers he gained from being his son. Already within a gameplay trailer (which you can find by following the link above) we see him do some pretty interesting melee combat. As for his pursuing enemy the Urstanak (spelled something like that) it could make things VERY interesting. Each campaign is said to be about 80% of the length of Resident Evil 5, totaling up to some pretty extensive Gameplay. This also includes co-op for each of them campaigns, which at times separate ways to allow for two different routes throughout a map. Now for the rumour mill which has thrown the idea out there of a possible fourth campaign featuring no other than one of the game main antagonists, Ada Wong. It has been discussed that a fourth campaign, possibly through DLC or completing the game, will involve her and her story before the events of Resident Evil 6. Now this hasn't been confirmed but is nothing but a rumour out there. Lets just wait and see what October 2nd brings for us...
