I was in my general psychology class today and we were on the topic of relationships.

Now, most of the students in my batch are extremely conservative and have openly been making "gay jokes" throughout class. All psychology students, mind you.

So this girl is sharing some kind of anecdote about romantic relationships and says "his/her" referring to a hypothetical individual's partner. And my prof (very strict, no nonsense kinda guy) stops her mid sentence and asks her "Why stop there? If you're gonna specify, why not add "their" as well?" And then he goes on a 20 minute speech about the importance of inclusivity.

(For context, I'm not American and live in a very, /very/ queerphobic country)

I never, ever imagined that any academic, in a country like mine, would ever ever acknowledge queer folks like me, let alone take a stand on it.

He also proceeded to call out the transphobia of some dudes in the class, later on.

The passages forbidding a man sleeping with another man are often sited by modern bigots to justify inhuman treatment of homosexuals, but what happens if you look at the context?

You find these declarations are a part of a larger set of decrees for the chosen Hebrews after resting the promised land from its former occupants.

These decrees are mixed in with all sorts of other things: prohibiting tattoos, prohibiting planting two seeds in the same land, prohibiting shaving your beard into a point; many things that Christians today wouldn't dare to say is required to follow.

The first film adaptation is the one that takes the most liberties with the source material. Even the title “Plein Soleil” (aka “full sun”) or as it was released to the English speaking world “Purple Noon” take a more poetic tact than any of the other versions. This is a French film and my French is good enough to get most of the dialogue, except anytime there’s an Italian speaking, scusa. Lets…

Yeah, imagine that.

Imagine being a man who identifies as a woman feeling entitled to lesbian spaces and calling female homosexuals "fetishizers" and "entitled" for being in lesbian spaces.

They're trying so fucking hard to erase homosexuality and they're doing it by appropriating and twisting language until nobody even knows what they're talking about anymore.

I get that the majority of them are at best bisexual and can't actually relate to lesbians (and lesbians have always been a minority so it becomes very obvious why they suddenly forgot about us when there's a flood of non lesbians claiming that label and correcting us with their tumblr wisdom on what our community looked like and the history they never actually experienced) even then they just can't deal with us having boundaries and it's so weird.

They pretend to be progressive but act like every other creep who sees lesbians as a challenge because he thinks we're just playing hard to get. It's like they're trying to solve a riddle.

"ok fine you said lesbians aren't attracted to men but what about dick? Is that negotiable? What if I just told you I'm not a man and you pretend my dick is a strap? Can we meet somewhere in the middle? Come on you said no men and I just told you I'm not a man anymore, so where's the problem? What's wrong with you? Why do you hate me? Do you want me to die??"

"Ew are you attracted to genitals? Do you see people as walking genitals you freak?'

"Why is it so important if someone has a dick? What if you meet someone you like, would you reject them when you realize they have this really unimportant body part that you have some weird hangups over? Maybe you should work on that because that's not normal"

"nobody cares about your weird genital fetish, we don't need to know what you do in the bedroom, stop shoving it down our throats and keep it to yourself"
