So this is going for my whole system and just systems in general. PLEASE for the love of whatever you bloody believe in, stop flirting with our fictives/alters as a whole! Especially if you JUST met them or they JUST formed. I get it if you randomly blurt something out without thinking, it happens to all of us, but if they tell you to stop, fucking stop! Also, we apologize if all of us randomly showing up is confusing, we get it. It is rough, even for us. But don't treat us like shit for it or straight up ignore us because of it. If you're genuinely curious, fucking ask! Most of us fucking love questions, especially because of all the masking we have to do on a day-to-day life. And also, if we ask you to stop something, that doesn't mean stop for a little and then keep doing it later! That's not how it works! Just because you see us doing it with someone else, doesn't give you the right away to start doing it as well. Especially if we don't know you as well as others. Stop pushing boundaries too! Stop assuming shit and ask! And I'm sorry if I sound angry, but it's been bothering me and my headmates for a while and it just finally boiled over.
No one understands how much I love and care for the character Captain Jack Harkness.
Yes, I'm known for my obsession of him. And it's picked fun at a lot. Hell, even I will on occasional. But no one truly knows WHY I love him to the extent I do.
He is the most loyal, most understanding, most caring character I have observed in NuWho. He makes mistakes and he learns from them. He makes tough decisions that hurt himself and his loved ones- decisions no one else would be able to make. But he does it all for the greater good and for the general health of the world.
He spent years searching for someone whom he loved greatly- both romantically and as a friend- and when he did find them? He was called a mistake and told he was abandoned on purpose. That's enough to make anyone bitter (without even acknowledging the immortal aspect). And yet he continued to be loyal and speak highly of the Doctor even after the fact.
He sacrificed his grandson for the children of the world! Something even diploats couldn't do! He did it knowing his daughter would despise him for the rest of her life! And he has to live with that for eternity!
He cares so deeply, feels so strongly, and he hides it because if he doesn't he'll break. Can you image having to watch so many people die while you get to live so many lives because you can't?
Also, everyone talks about how the 10th Doctor was born out of love. Love for Rose. But Jack was born out of the love FROM Rose. Her love was so great for him, he literally became immortal!
He is such a deep, interesting, contradictory character who is reduced to just an immortal flirt with a great plot twist in his story.
I relate to this character so much. Probably more than any other character I've come across in media. And that is why I love him. Not because he's an immortal flirt. But because he is deep and he is so relatable.
No one deserves you, Captain Jack Harkness. No one.
