not that literally anyone at all asked but my personal gwenjackianto vision is that the ideal setup for the mental health of everyone involved is that jack and ianto are in a relationship but gwen is not (and also should GET DIVORCED) and is just kind of their casual occasional third/fwb/secret third thing type situation. i think if they tried to actually make the throuple thing work many problems would emerge but chiefly the fact that the part of gwen's brain that starts acting like a cornered animal when she finds herself in a serious committed relationship would immediately go I NEED TO BOMB THIS SITUATION. NOW. all this being said i think they should try to make the throuple thing work anyway and fail miserably bc i personally think it's really awesome when gwen bombs her interpersonal relationships horribly
Gwen Cooper, I know how much you love cheating on Rhys. I am available tonight, and I’m nicer than Owen Harper. C’mon Gwen, divorce Rhys and I can be your controversially younger boyfriend
Gwen, Rhys, and the Beatles ^^

sorry for liveblogging my billionth rewatch of torchwood but i'm watching day one right now and the fucking high tech mechanical sound effects when they're opening a regular ass plastic toolbox at the meteor crash site is KILLING ME.
Rewatching the first series of Torchwood and I know this isn't something that would have really been all that possible with time constraints etc, but I kind of wish there were more little moments of the team bonding in a positive/fun way.
Like in Everything Changes when Gwen first enters the hub and everyone is pretending to work and then they're all laughing at their little prank. Or in Cyberwoman when Ianto is watching everyone else play basketball (even though I know that's supposed to illustrate his loneliness) and stuff like that. I just think it would have been kinda cool to see them goofing off together and stuff. Messing around instead of doing paperwork on days when it's slow and there's no imminent alien threat.
I think it would have made the layers of all the characters' relationships with each other just a bit more interesting. Ianto and Owen bickering because taking the piss is how their friendship works, not because they hate each other, which is why the escalation in CJH turns from regular friendly bickering to actual fighting. Tosh and Gwen chatting about Girl Things because Gwen's trying to be friendly and then Tosh actually starts to enjoy it because she's hasn't had a normal person conversation at work in years and Suzie didn't really chat. Ianto and Tosh nerding out about some video game or computer thing or obscure scifi no one else has heard of (except maybe Jack) and ending up deep in conversation instead of working. Owen and Tosh playing desk keepie-uppie with a piece of balled up paper, with Tosh sort of reluctantly playing until she starts to get into it. Gwen and Owen playing a racing game on whatever console Owen's got, swearing and shoving at each other. Ianto and Gwen talking about some shop or cinema or something in Cardiff that existed when they were growing up but not anymore and reminiscing about it. All of them having stupid conversations on meal breaks, or playing basketball, or whatever.
Like all of that would establish that they're friends as well as coworkers, even if sometimes things are fraught, or their emotions can be complicated. And it helps to establish further why they trust each other in life or death situations. They're not just strangers stuck together in an underground base, only communicating when things are frustrating or dire or when there's a mystery to solve. They're also people who hang out at work when it's boring and try to entertain themselves when there's nothing to do (or when there's paperwork etc to do that they don't feel like doing).
