I donât even want to write a review of âTop Gun: Maverickâ honestly, Iâve seen 1,500+ movies and Iâve never finished one that left me more depressed about the future of this country. I just want to stop thinking about it

Insanely hilarious and exactly why crypto is such shit lol.

Hey iâm a fashion design student so i have tons and tons of pdfs and docs with basic sewing techniques, pattern how-tos, and resources for fabric and trims. Iâve compiled it all into a shareable folder for anyone who wants to look into sewing and making their own clothing. Iâll be adding to this folder whenever i come across new resources
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16uhmMb8kE4P_vOSycr6XSa9zpmDijZSd?usp=sharing
Updated just now with new hand sewing resources (mainly buttonholes) and textbook pdfs on fashion history, fashion illustration, and thinking through designs!
oh hell yes
i was about to say ohmygodyesss, so basically we are on both the same page, and on the absolute opposite right?

Pretty good short video on how bad the new hp game is
I feel like adhd bored is different than neurotypical bored because like. You donât understand. I have a billion things I could be doing. I turn on the tv. I stare at the Netflix screen for five minutes. Flip through shows and movies for the next thirty minutes. Nothing looks good. I put in a video game. Play for two minutes. Not feeling it. I load up YouTube. Watch half a video before closing the app. Maybe Iâll read a book? I stare at my giant bookshelf. The thought of starting a new book seems too hard. I lay in bed and play phone games for six hours. Nothing has gotten done. Still bored.
I feel like a better term for this experience is ârestless.âÂ
Sometimes nothing sounds good; I have a specific experiential craving or itch that needs to be scratched but I donât know what it is or how to placate it so I will rapidly cycle through activities in search of something that will provide the level/type of stimulation I crave. Like a tiger pacing in the zoo.Â
Itâs a really bad, unbearably vibratey itchy feeling. A craving for relief that takes too great a mental effort to overcome.
It can be physical tooâŚsometimes if I donât walk/pace it feels like my bones are squiggly and itâs as unpleasant as it sounds
My bones are squiggly and it literally physically hurts sometimes and a lot of times I will get abruptly and inexplicably exhausted bc my brain has had enough of this âboredâ shit and would rather just shut down for the day than endure it any longer.
Understimulation is incredibly mentally draining because when nothing motivates you and feels good, every little thing you do needs an absurd amount of spoons for you to actually do it. You may not notice it, because the understimulation is so intense that it overpowers fatigue, but itâs something that constantly drains you in ways that are almost impossible to explain to people who donât experience similar issues.

THIS IS THE GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN
Wrote a controversial post but saved it as a draft because you folks are not ready
I'm not gonna post it but I will say that I've been watching Tumblr users becoming more and more reactionary with issues surrounding sexuality over the last several years and I suspect a major factor is how sooo many people looked the other way when their favourite wlw leftist discourse blogger turned out to be a crypto-terf. I can think of like five of them off the top of my head.
So many people accepted this sex negative theory uncritically and now we're back to debating whether sex workers should have rights and telling complete strangers that their consensual sexual practices are self harm (apparently no one realises that this is precisely the same argument used against gay men. By the same people no less)
Saw somewhere someone saying that, on Tumblr specifically, the result of FOSTA/SESTA and, by extension, the exclusion of sex workers on tumblr has now resulted in a terfs/swerfs pretty much having dominance on these issues that sex workers would've called out a long time ago and were constantly correcting misconceptions of
we're all the worse for it
Hey hi hello, I saw that you criticized how art museums encourage the dismissal of modern art pieces. I am wondering which aspects of art museum design encourages this behavior, and what could be done to improve modern art appreciation in museums.
Imagine the modern art wing of a museum.
Spare white walls.
Intense, even lighting.
Hard wooden floors.
No seating.
Maze-like, interconnected galleries.
Small plaques identifying the artist, year and title in clean sans-serif font.
These design choices are all in the service of making the art museum the best possible habitat for art. Â The museum is a neutral void into which we place great works of beauty to be appreciated. Â The work shines. Â Itâs unburdened by context. Â Itâs alluring and impressive and an utter fucking cipher if you donât already know why itâs interesting.

Accelerationism is the obscure idea thatâs inspiring white supremacist killers around the world.
god. this is a lot
You know when you go into something knowing a situation is horrible and then realize you had no fucking clue? Read this
Sort of a tangent, but climate change discussions are a prime example of just how insidious accelerationist rhetoric can be. Iâve lost count of how many times Iâve seen blackpill talking points come out of the mouths of oblivious liberals. Usually white. Overpopulation, austerity policies, conspiracies about crisis response. Even the wannabe Rambo ass apocalypse fantasies are, at their core, reactionary.
But something like âoverpopulation is the problemâ sounds right to someone who doesnât know how reactionary politics function. It seems like an obvious, indisputable fact when one doesnât learn how to untangle the deeper implications behind political statements. So a lot of (white) liberals are especially susceptible to the type of recruiting that cryptofascists prefer to employ.
My brother, who would be horrified to know the origins of his belief, thoroughly believes the overpopulation lie. Heâs a Terminally Online Zoomer opinionated white guy who is a perfect target for accelerationists: not at all likely to participate in their horrendous violence, but very likely to absorb the rhetoric that makes him feel paralyzed, apathetic, and misanthropic while they detonate the world around him.
If we care about stopping this tide of fascism, we are obligated to learn the ways in which theyâve camouflaged themselves. The term âdogwhistleâ gets bandied about a lot, and applied to things like the (((three parentheses))), which has quickly moved from dog whistle to open, unabashed antisemitism. The actual dog whistles, the ones we need to be aware of and ready to critique, often sound on the surface like normal conversations.
If, like the previous commenter, you feel horrified by the scope of the problem, the quickest way to start getting active is to get intimately familiar with their rhetoric, their codes, the underpinnings of their politics, and the machinery that makes fascism run.
really good thank you for writing this
âLike neoreaction, neo-Nazi accelerationism holds that the liberal-democratic order is a failure â that we should move beyond it toward a better future, and that the task of political action should be to accelerate the speed of that transformation. Only in their view, that  âbetter futureâ is not capitalist authoritarianism, but the total collapse of a degenerate and corrupt Western society â and the rebirth,  out of its ashes, of a new political order more hospitable to white  domination.â
________________________ This is what Iâve been talking about on here with regards to the anti-capitalist right.
Leftists (especially those who are not strongly involved in antifascist work) need to be very careful in anti-capitalist spaces, because there are multiple strands of fascist anti-capitalist movements that seek to destroy Western governments as a goal. There is a ârevolutionary rightâ and they absolutely will use Leftist action to their own benefit to take power and implement their own vision of society based in white cis male supremacy and eugenics.
Not everyone who is anti-US government or anti-capitalist or anti-centralized government is a comrade. Leftists need to forefront our fight against racism (esp anti-blackness), antisemitism, misogyny (esp transmisogyny), and eugenics. Our primary goal as leftists needs to be based in liberation movements and the inherent value of individualsâ life, freedom, and bodily autonomy.
And imo, we need to focus much more on building mutual aid networks and laying the framework for the societies we want and need in a post-revolution world, because if all our energy is poured into toppling the current capitalist structure without having a robust plan in place for what follows, then our world will quickly fall to fascists who are already planning out how they want society structured.
Itâs not just the anticapitalist right that the left needs to worry about here though. Thereâs been a real problem in spaces that outright call themselves leftist with the idea that climate change can be solved by literally encouraging human extinction.
https://itsgoingdown.org/its-attacks-anarchists/
These kinds of eco-fascists (though theyâd never call themselves that, theyâre more likely to claim theyâre anarcho-primitivists) might seem like the polar opposite of the people in the first article but theyâre really not, they too are obsessed with âpurificationâ and while they claim itâs not based in any kind of right-wing race fantasy, as opposed to a general disdain for humanity, the kinds of victims they choose tell a different story.
This is the logical final stage of both leftism that thinks âcivilization is evilâ and liberalism that thinks âhumans need to die off for the sake of the earth.â Mass slaughter of the most vulnerable.
In May of this year, the eco-extremist group Individualists Tending Toward the Wild (ITS) issued a statement claiming responsibility for the
fucking hell thank you for these additions
Y'all: Read this.
All those times I said âYou are not nearly afraid enough,â this is what I been saying.
If youâre dark skinned, please wear sunscreen (at least 30 SPF, the Max is 55?) every single day and reapply every 2 hours when youâre out and about. PLEASE
Yes, the sun makes us look glorious but itâll make us age in dog years.
Fenty Skinâs Hydra Vizor (Scented)
Krave Beautyâs Beet Shield (fragrance free)
Purito Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF 50 (fragrance free)
These are all chemical sunscreens that donât/barely have a white cast on darker skin.
You should also wear sunscreen indoors if youâre near a window. (Reapplying every 6 hours)
Letâs not forget Black Girl Sunscreen and Unsun (available at Target).
however, if youâre going to be in the ocean, please do not wear chemical based sunscreens. They are rapidly killing coral reefs and affecting marine wildlife. Places like Hawaii have banned chemical sunscreen for a reason.
Mineral based sunscreens, like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, are what you should be using instead, BUT they are also the sunscreens that give you really bad white cast. I know no one wants white cast, but your health and the oceanâs health is a bit more important. Please donât risk getting skin cancer because of aesthetics.
Government policies arenât always science based, many of the oxybenzone bans are based on two lab studies that donât accurately reflect the reality of chemical concentrations in the field (which have been consistently found to be thousands of times less concentrated).
There have been a bunch of articles written since by scientists in response to these bans; covering the problems with those studies, and the problems with focusing on sunscreen as a cause for coral bleaching.
If chemical sunscreens were a significant contributor to reef bleaching, we would expect to find more bleaching in areas with high sunscreen usage when the exact opposite has been found.
âIn fact, the Australian government found the majority of recent coral bleaching occurred where there is low to no human interaction and that coral is actually healthier in tourist-heavy, high-traffic areas.â
There is substantial evidence that coral bleaching is caused by:
-climate change (rising ocean temperatures) -biological changes (disease, invasive species, and over-fishing) -water pollution (fertilizer run-off and poor waste management)
It is nice to think that we could save reefs by simply changing the type of sunscreen we use; but there isnât good evidence to suggest these bans will have any positive effect on reef health.
