something that happens in media (for lack of a better term) is that objects of (esp. sexual) fixation can be distinguished, imo, by their central interest + role-driven characterization. where other characters have threads that just hang around, bits of meaning that are intelligible thru interpersonal relation, that is, we come to kno them thru those ways their difference catches and impels us, i think for objects the difference always gets completed, it always routes back to the same points. and so what might even seem like threads of difference are just highlighted pieces of an already smoothed surface; the fetish only produces organs. im not really talking about media here, im talking about sock-puppet accounts. but for one thing, these are obviously a form of popular literature, and for another, the interception of discourses by sock-puppets is not just a problem for particular discourses but a problem for the currently-intelligible genres of representational discourse. in as much as we are conditioned and constrained by these genres, we all run the risk of becoming sock-puppets of our selves, and all take the damage from enduring inter-objective relationships.
