There was a massive shift in how our culture understood morality when, after World War II, the general public realized “just following orders” was not an excuse for crimes against humanity. Now we need another moral shift in which we decide, as a culture, that “for the benefit of the stockholders” is not an excuse for anything.

We kind of need to relearn the “just following orders” part again

To my 25 - 35 year olds, you've reached the age where people around you are starting to give up on themselves because they think it's too late. Don't let that energy rub off on you. It's not too late.

It turns out that actually standing by "men and women are not inherently very different" is a reliable way to bother absolutely everyone. Left or right, cis or trans, feminist or misogynist, all cling to the binary for dear life.

a lot of people dont care about insect biomass collapse bc when they hear we are losing 2.5% of the insect biomass per year they just imagine the cockroach and housefly population decreasing by that much. they dont realize those are among the only ones that will remain unbothered

you can make a little oasis right where you are, and it matters

We’re in year 3 of our native prairie project and there are So Many Bugs out there this year. Not bothering us in or near our home or patio or anything, but out there enjoying the plants and (not) enjoying being eaten by the So Many Birds that are also in evidence this year. And a lot of the bugs are fun things like butterflies and fireflies. We have a couple of acres but I can tell from what we’re seeing here that even if we only had a few feet to add a bit of native biodiversity to it would make an incredible difference.

you have to consciously unlearn racism and continue to watch for it because it will come out without realizing. because so much of society is structured around it. shrugging and going "i dont care" or "i dont know how else to say it" means you are okay with being racist and hurting other people with how much you dont give a shit about them.
