Politics- mainly using my platform to be hopeful, and not cynical when it comes to politics, both in the US and abroad. The world is a mess right now, and I want to focus on what gets us through it.
Palestine- I'll share links for humanitarian aid orgs, but not individual fundraisers for now. I've seen a rise in scam bots recently, so I want to ensure that any money I encourage people to donate is guaranteed to help people who need it.
Intersectionality- I try to view social issues through an intersectional lens. I'm mainly interested in how they impact one another, both with regards to real life and media.

gotta say, I love the direction we're taking steamboat willie mickey mouse in now that he's public domain. I was expecting tumblr to rip him apart and be like "we feast on his corpse" (and I would have been on board with that lol), but we've decided that he's one of us now. he's a hero of the working class, newly liberated from his capitalist oppressors who sought to shackle him to traditional values and conservatism for decades. he's supportive of leftist causes. he's trans. he's married to jay fucking gatsby.
He stumbles over to us, his eyes glued to the ground and his hands shaking. He’s seen us all through the years. He’s heard the jokes about rat poison and mouse traps and god knows what else. And he knows he deserves all of them; he’s seen what’s been done in his name, he knows it’s horrible and we have every right to be angry. He can’t die, everyone knows that, but we can kill him, over and over and over and over again forever, and he’ll deserve every second of it.
He waits an agonizing few seconds before us. Nobody moves. Nobody speaks. Maybe he hopes we’ll just get started sooner rather than make him stand and atone for the actions of others through the centuries. He will, but it won’t be nearly enough, because he wasn’t there. Nobody asked him. Nobody told him what they were thinking. There’s nothing he can say to make us feel better.
When it becomes clear we aren’t going to say anything, he does. “Uh… h-hi, everyone,” he says. “I… I know you must all feel really uncomfortable about me being here. And, you all have every right to be, because I know you’re all very angry with me. You all have every right to be. I just, want you to know that, if I could’ve done anything to stop any of it, I would have, really. But, I’m sorry it happened at all, and-”
He doesn’t get to finish. It’s impossible to say who moves first, but in a few moments, we’re all there, all of us, in one massive hug around this tiny mouse. We embrace him in a tight group hug, some of us kissing his cheeks, some of us ruffling his hair and all of us laughing and crying and smiling and conveying our joy that he’s here in a cacophony of love.
“I, I don’t understand,” he manages between being squeezed. “How can you all just forgive me? Don’t you all hate me?”
“We never hated you,” we tell him. “We hated the people who made you dance for them while they were massacring us.”
“But all those terrible things-?”
“None of them were ever your fault. Welcome home, Mickey.”

the fact that behemoth can transform into a human man whenever he wants but he choose to stay as a cat and then gets mad at the conductor when the lady kicked him out from the tram because the idea of a cat that talks and walked on two legs with a mini gun in his looney tunes pocket is literally beyond human comprehenssion and everyone is obviously freaked out by that.

With over 551,000 films, English has over 7 times as many films listed on Letterboxd as the second most common language (that being Spanish, at just over 78,000 films)
I wanted speakers of other languages to get a chance to highlight and share some of their favorite films, so if you speak one or more languages that aren't English, please submit your favorite films in your languages through this form, and I'll compile them all in this Letterboxd list
