Ngl re-imagining the whole old cartoon logic of “non-human looking character has eyelashes or a single feminine accessory so we know she’s The Girl ™” as a method of communicating that a character is transgender is really funny and low-key kinda based

Valentino is trying to control every aspect of Angel's life, and Angel fights. Even before Charlie and Husk, Angel fought to stay at the Hotel (and considering Val's reaction when he found that out? moving out wasn't easy). He also kept his friendship with Cherri in spite of Val (and we all know how toxic relationships (aaaand a little bit of soul owning) make seeing your friends harder. Angel can stand up to Val (e. g. when Charlie showed up at the studio). He constantly tries to be the best and sexiest version of himself, even if everything around is difficult. He signed up to work at the Magic Kat, because he wanted to do drag, so he made sure he could do fucking drag. He went clean from drugs, which is an achievment in itself.

Angel, despite his situation, which is the worst of the worst, is still trying, and Husk loves that.

Because Husk? Since he lost his soul, he's a loser, and he's not doing anything about it. (Especially S1 Husk.) He's at the hotel because of Alastor, he doesn't care about anything, he drinks. The first thing he does when he's free is going to the casino to gamble and drink, where he sees Angel literally trying to achieve his dreams. No wonder he blushed this much.

Ironically, the thing Husk admires is what sometimes causes Angel to exhaust himself. He has to be perfect all the time, the best, the sexiest, the happiest, the prettiest, he's trying to achieve one dream and another, he's trying to be a better person, he's trying and trying, he pushes himself to the point of exhaustion, he doesn't know when to stop. He thinks that if he stops and sits down for even a second, he might never get up again. And after all, it's easy to not think about your shitty afterlife when you constantly have goals and deadlines to meet, right?

That’s very much how I feel about the state of everything. Generations before mine made choices and I’m the sacrifice with the environment, the economy, and social movements.

When I was in high school my uncle told me it’s “up to your generation to solve these issues.” All I could think was ‘excuse me?? I’m not even old enough to vote? Why don’t you do something about it??’

You have money, you have voting power, you have time to be socially aware of these issues - why it is up to me, a high schooler, to solve.

Why do I have to be the consequence to your actions?

Project Hail Mary is a movie about hope. It’s a movie about how fucked someone is by another person’s choice and how even though it’s awful YOU have to do something about it. It’s about how you can’t just lay down and die.

It really resonates with me- with how fucked everything feels I want desperately to give up, but unfortunately I’m a good person and I will try to make things better.

I think the other message to take away from this movie is that change takes time. Since the Hail Mary was launched to the time the beetles returned is over a decade. Yes everything feels like it’s going to shit right now, but our actions will have an impact. Change takes time and the sooner we recognize the problems and start working on the solutions the sooner the problem will be resolved. And we are making changes! I really believe we are. We will create a world we want to live in again.

I’ve been thinking about Jax’s pronouns since episode 9 and I’d like to discuss my thoughts!

From my perspective, it’s undeniable that Jax is a severely closeted transfem with all of the evidence, implications and subtle symbolism we got in just that episode (not even talking about all the other implications from other episodes). However there’s a large platform of people who have been completely dismissing transfem jax just because they deem it as “not obvious” or “people are delusional for reading this as the subtext” and I’d just like to say, if you are one of these people, you’re either insanely media illiterate OR blatantly transphobic.

HOWEVER you should not at all feel bad for flipping between he/him pronouns and she/her pronouns when referring to jax especially when it comes down to the context of what you’re talking about. As we know, Jax is still very much so closeted. She isn’t ready to tell people which is why she panicked when she told ribbit because she thought she ‘overshared’ and brought back a lot of the worries that stem from her trauma and also why she made the statement of “you know everything now” to pomni and proceeded to be in denial over pomni saying that she loves and cares for her no matter what which leads to the “you’re not supposed to miss me, you’re not supposed to love me”. She is still super closeted and although somewhat came to terms with her identity in that scene and found a reason to stay, she still isn’t ready to face telling people.

So you could definitely argue that referring to jax as he/him WITH the context that she isn’t ready to come out yet and never explicitly stated she wants to be referred to as she/her is ok (as long as you respect and don’t deny the fact she is tfem because that would be disrespectful)

Additionally, Jax’s irl self, leeroy mateo clearly isn’t fully open about it but knowing that she has been going to Riley’s (zooble) bar which they said is made for people to be themselves without judgement (sounds quite similar to a lgbtq+ bar, I know it probably isn’t but you could infer this) means that they have most likely begun to express their true self a bit more and is taking time to figure herself out.

The reason I’m referring to jax as she/her is because I know that that’s what Jax would want to be known as if she wasn’t so closeted and suppressing her identity.

You know I thought this was just a simple little “she’s embarrassed about secretly liking the dress because her egg hasn’t cracked yet”, not “she already came out before any of them knew her and was met with vicious degradation and ridicule”.
