Because Izzy keeps seeing Stede by his side, smiling at him softly and it feels so good. Sometimes he is reading Izzy something from a book, some other times he is offering him fine drinks and food and even though Izzy tries to resist (because he has never wanted or needed posh food, thank you very much), he always caves because Stede keeps begging him so sweetly.

They hold hands at the helm sometimes and they kiss under the moonlight and at some point (it’s all a blur, Izzy can’t tell when exactly, but he doesn’t care) Stede is offering him a ring, almost shyly, and Izzy doesn’t even have to think about it before saying yes and the crew organizes a big celebration for them on the Revenge.

That last dream gets a bit blurry around the edges as the fever starts to finally go down, and when Izzy stirs and finally opens his eyes, he sees Stede smiling brightly at him. Then, as a very relieved Stede leans down to plump up his pillows, Izzy pulls him down by his shirt and kisses him clumsily on the lips.

Stede gasps and straightens up, staring at the soft smile on Izzy face. He looks exhausted and still half-asleep and so happy. But then his smile falters and he frowns.

“What’s wrong, love?” Izzy asks, confused. “Did something happen, Stede?”
