Eleven-ships

fun fact: I recently picked up one of my old Buddie WIPs that I think I've only told one person about and that was some time ago. so have a snippet of that today and let's all hold hands and pray I finish this at some point.

“I’ll get the discharge papers ready,” The doctor says, voice dropped a bit lower, “And then you can take your partner home.” Eddie can feel the way Buck tenses for a second at the implication of their relationship, but he’s just too tired to care or protest. So what if this doctor thinks they’re together? Eddie just wants to go home. “Th-thanks.” Buck stumbles over the word as the doctor takes their leave. Probably more instinct than anything, Buck adjusts his body to better support Eddie now that he doesn’t have to also talk to a person, and his other hand rests on one of Eddie’s knees. “You doing okay?” “No.” Buck’s chest rumbles with a low laugh, “You’re getting hangry.” “I just wanna go home.” Eddie knows he’s whining but decides it doesn’t matter. He’s hurt and in the hospital and hurts. “I want my bed.” “We’re going to be leaving soon. Then we’ll grab some burgers on the way home so you eat something before you crash in bed.” “...a milkshake too.” Buck’s hand moves up and down Eddie’s back slowly, “And a milkshake. Of course.” Eddie sighs once more, letting more of his weight lean into Buck’s. The other man has more or less taken up residence between Eddie’s knees, which are spread from how he’s sitting on the bed. But Buck is warm and familiar and he smells good. So, Eddie reasons this is allowed. It doesn’t have to mean anything.

i’m an astronaut, you’re the moon

Eddie looks at his broken puzzle with so much anger he's surprised it's not self-inflating on the spot.  Athena ruined a giant piece of it, a third at least. And he couldn't find several pieces after. Amazing. Hell he hates puzzles!  He takes a sip from his kitten glass - actually, here, at Maddie's he's pretty much fine with cups but it's still a bad day so glass with the lid it is - and exhaustedly looks at the ceiling.  Athena is right. She tries. Everyone around him… tries for some reason. He just can't see how it could work. On the other hand, he's been at home for some time already and there's no one hiding in the closet with a lorazepam syringe. Maybe he has just grown so enormous paranoia it's starting to mess around with his reality?  In reality he's…fine. Working on the worst puzzle ever, ignoring crosswords, tapping pens, commands, holters… this list is infinite.  He's broken, obviously. Broken objects are disposed of.  He's not disposed of yet.  That means he's not an object. Eddie chuckles.  That means someone is pretty lazy. Otherwise he would have at least one confirmation of his own existence by now. Not restricted files. He just can't understand why… it still doesn't feel like an end. It feels like the eye of the storm he is stuck into.  He has to do something. Eddie takes a piece of the sky. So he will do the puzzle.
