why you should buy bone in, skin on chicken:
meat: obvious
skin: season and air fry for snacks
bones: season and roast for soup bones (or more snacks, depending on meatiness)
also, I think seeing the bones and sinew and sometimes the blood reminds you that your food was alive. It was an animal, and being grateful for all the hands involved in its raising, growing, culling, and processing makes you think about not only yourself but for the many steps it took to get on your table and God’s provision in letting you have it. It makes you slow down and think about food preparation either in restaurants or in fast food or grocery store freezer aisles, and it makes you ask why things are done one way or if it’s worth the extra time to make stuff on your own.
cooking really should make you grateful, I think.
As someone who has raised and butchered chickens, goats, and sheep for most of my teenage years and the better part of my 20s, yes.
I hate wasting food now that I've seen where it comes from. It hasn't made me like meat less, but only appreciate it more.

Maybe the most damming thing about Nolans odyssey is i haven’t seen a single gifset from it
"we live in an uncaring universe." sorry the special planet full of beauty and animals and food literally growing out of the ground isnt good enough for you. i guess
you think that you're so alone in the world then you read literature from hundreds of years ago and you realize that other people have always felt this way
Which is always why you should ignore both people who are like "oh! This specific time I live in is uniquely evil!" AND "oh! This specific time I live in is the only time people have loved each other and their children!"
They are poorly read and have no sense of perspective.
one of the best pieces of advice I've ever heard (for myself, at least) is that if you're in a terrible mood and NOTHING is helping, then start doing the chores/responsibilities/job stuff/etc that you've been putting off. Will it put you in an even worse mood temporarily? Probably, but you're already pissed off, so you might as well double up on it at that point 😭 there's no loss. It's not like finally getting around to cleaning the house and scheduling appointments is going to ruin the good day that you aren't currently having to begin with 💀 And then, when the bad mood passes, you'll have gotten shit done and you'll feel a lot better later, even if in the moment you're having The Worst Time Ever about it.
my best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in ur life and it can become a vice if you play your cards right

How to explain to a boomer that I prefer a text asking if I'm available for a call before you try to call...
Help?
All but impossible. 99% of Boomers hate texting and view it (somewhat reasonably) as a step backwards. You call so you don't have to write. They don't want to try to type something out on their phone, they want to just pick up and call and talk to a person. To them, texting is the same kind of stressful hassle that phone calls tend to be for younger generations.
Your best bet is to come up with some reason about your job or environment requiring quiet, which they may understand. "Don't call, it'll wake the baby!"
Yeah I'm not THAT old but texting is kinda dumb. I get why it's useful but kinda dumb to spend a couple minutes typing stuff with your thumbs that you could just call and say in 10 seconds.
The difference is that a phone call puts you on the spot. You can't defer answering the question until later, because the other person has your attention and they know it. And for some people, a text message buys them time to determine how best to word a response, because word choice and tone really matter to them.
This.
Also. My husband and I are usually in bed and/or asleep by 9:15. It's kinda rude to call after 9 without making sure someone's awake *to* answer your call.
And 7 weeks from now when I have a newborn and we're all sleep deprived, anyone who calls and wakes me up is dead to me.
Okay, SO, I spun the wheel for that “You almost get turned by a vampire, but it gets staked before you fully turn, so you’re human but you’re left with one vampire weakness,” and I got “You cannot enter a building without first being invited.” That yote my brain onto a FASCINATING train of thought about what constitutes an invitation when it comes to public buildings, so…
Do places whose purpose is to serve the public have an implicit invitation active at all times?
Yes; even with this weirdly specific weakness you can walk in fine at any time.
No; someone must invite you to come in at least for the first time that you go.
Yes, but only when the building is actually open to the public.
Nuance; I think some places would but others wouldn’t (elaborate in tags)

lets out a single agonized bloodcurdling scream but doesnt elaborate on why and just walks it off
when the author describes someone dying and you can just tell they’ve never actually died by the way it’s written
