All but impossible. 99% of Boomers hate texting and view it (somewhat reasonably) as a step backwards. You call so you don't have to write. They don't want to try to type something out on their phone, they want to just pick up and call and talk to a person. To them, texting is the same kind of stressful hassle that phone calls tend to be for younger generations.
Your best bet is to come up with some reason about your job or environment requiring quiet, which they may understand. "Don't call, it'll wake the baby!"
All it would take is a quick "hey, you got a minute?", nothing more.
In my opinion, an unexpected phonecall after normal social hours with anyone outside of immediate family is the same as dropping by my house uninvited. And the woman who called is not a relative of mine. It could have waited til morning.

parents are allowed to straight-up torture their kids with zero consequences. they can withhold food and water, lock you out of shelter, confiscate your belongings, bar you from human contact, attack and harm you and exert complete control over your physical appearance. and this is just the norm. if you speak out against it you're seen as a delinquent or a predator. even otherwise progressive people get uncomfortable with the idea of dismantling the nuclear family unit because they still see it as the best way to keep kids safe when that simply couldn't be further from the truth. it's evil.
You know, I'm stuck wondering if this is someone doing a legitimate claim, without understanding that all these things can, do, and have resulted in people arrested for child neglect and physical harm?
Or if this is a hyperbolic overstating of minor punishments like grounding you from using your phone, or keeping you from dying your hair orange.
Like it's ridiculous for two different reasons depending on which.

Add in endless sci-fi and post-apocalyptic movies and TV shows and comics and the like where radiation turned people into mutants or whatever and people are primed to be suspicious of nuclear power.
1) any stretching is better than no stretching
2) any vegetable is better than no vegetable
3) statistically you will never be the worst person at anything, there is always someone in the world who is worse at stuff than you are
