The âBloody Maryâ fic editors/artists got to me. I do not watch horror, but have been convinced to take the plunge into the blood bath that is Iron Lung. Come along with me as I watch this R rated horror film on a bright sunny day:

-Five WHAT?! What is that, exactly? On the other hand, it is nice to see there was SOME prior instruction.

- A seed! I love how you can instantly tell from his face how important that is. Even without the exposition, we would know from that look how important it is.
-I totally get why he is trusting this random stranger over anyone on the other side of that speaker.
- Is this⌠the Skelton at the bottom of the ocean? I mean, he would have had to leave the ship somehow⌠then again, how did they get it back? Did she say something about salvage at the beginning?

- Is it just me, or are these people scaring themselves a lot more than the damage actually being done? Including convict/mc. Like, ok, a light came through metal. Someone else has technology you donât, or maybe a natural phenomenon never run into before- something that lives in the blood gotta have some wild survival adaptations- doesnât mean the end of the universe, you know? But being stuck down in the dark, alone with a creaking hull is making these people batty.
-The light coming through the hull wasnât his camera, was it? Heâs not talking to one of those skeletons, is he? Wouldnât that be a tripâŚ

- I heard this line in a trailer or spoiler. It is somehow sadder that he is saying it to a possible hallucination.

-So I need a moment to process. That burst through the hull. Very trippy, very cool. An entity came in, got a good look at him, and⌠came to an agreement? I think? Though what agreement is unclear. And now Simon is waking up in blood. There is still a whole 20 ass minutes left. Ok. Proceed.

- creepy hive mind keeps saying that, yet his eyes are in fact open. This a spiritual thing, or�

-I feel vindicated by calling the Cthulhu/Lovecraftian vibes earlier

-Interesting. The demon and âthe lightâ are not, in fact, the same. The demon/ghost doesnât want info getting out. The light is just⌠Devine? Spiritual? Something in the blood? đ¤ DOES it want to get out? Is that bad? The fact that the ghost is an absolute bitch to Simon and keeps bringing up his worse things makes me side with the âlightâ honestly. Also- she seems possessive of it. Which again, makes me distrust her.

-So one, the âweâ thing WAS hive mind shit. Also, demon outside is also blood/fungus inside. Kk. Which means⌠light has nothing to do with the blood? It is just a thing that exists in there somewhere that the blood⌠covets? Worships? đ¤
-Two- I am thinking data sent back of his ship and hers will convince people to STOP investigating this evil fucking moon. Which is what the blood/demon wants, they just canât imagine anyone hearing about the âlightâ and not coming to steal it.

Last thoughts as the credits float by on an ocean of blood:
This movie is like 75-80% vibes and those vibes are immaculate. What they do with strategic blood placement in immaculate. Papers could be written about the visuals and audio storytelling in this film.
On the other hand- there is so much that is left up to vague speculation or just not explored.
I love that for the monster/demon. Like I said, Lovecraft vibes done absolutely right, no notes.
I am a little sad I donât know more about Simon? What WAS the plan at Filiment Station? Why was he âthe butcherâ even among his own people. If all the seeds were taken, how did âcross wiresâ guy get one? Did Simon recognize him from the voice, or was that just the demon pushing familiarity? I am very confused about that leather strap he used to secure the black box- I caught it had something to do with his mother- a gift I imagine- but did I miss a visual somewhere that told me that before he strapped it on? I did not see her in the flashbacks, but I think her voice was in the haze of voices, and the demon definetly kept bringing her up as a sore spot.
Also- I keep calling the alien/blood/thing in the blood a demon. I am doing that mostly because it got in his head and in his memories and tried to use all of that against him. Which is weird that it could do that and not always âseeâ him. Like, it could be in his head but had to use its physical body to locate him? Idk- I could go on all day, but it was super cool with demonic vibes to me, hence demon.
Thatâs another thing- this movie blended so many different types of horror, and somehow it worked? There was demonic, there was unknown, there was solitude, there was loss of autonomy, there was the corrupt post apocalyptic government, there was the âwe are making food because it is compatible, but it is horrifyingly compatible because it IS usâ thing- I am not a horror person, but every time a new type just blended itself in, I was impressed.
I was also impressed with how often I called ghost/Cthulu stuff. I know that lady was too old and possibly the ship he saw from first contact. Then I called her âunknown entity of horrorâ loving ass right away. Love that for me.
Also- I see why the huge Simon fanbase. He was a heroic figure who did not want to die, but when faced with death, did what he could to help everyone else. All the fanfic girlies want him to have a happier ending, and I get it. Also the dark romance writers can definetly have a field day. He got puppy eyes AND anger issues. And congrats! He just mutated into something monstrous.
I think I covered my deep understanding of the Hail Mary crossovers. I think it would have happened eventually even if they hadnât gone to theaters at the same time. But they did, and it was sitting RIGHT THERE, waiting to be written.
Final note- I heard this movie has the record for amount of blood used in a production. I fully believe it. He was swimming in that stuff for 2/3 the movie 𩸠đ
Anyways- hope you enjoyed this reaction. It kept me sane during the insanity I just watched.
