Great date last night. After dinner we went to the movies to see Bound. I saw it back in ‘96 on its first run, but the Hot Wife had never seen it in a theatre. Still a great movie that holds up despite its age.
xena has like the craziest theme episodes nobody was doing it like her like not only did they invent the musical episode u got groundhogs day.. the producers themed episode.. ww2 war film but everyone was wearing bikinis and had spears and the amazons were storming the beaches of this guys evil castle.. lesbian vampire episode.. mermaid themed spoof of 60s sitcoms.. beowulf wagnerian ring cycle inspired by the current happenings of lord of the rings.. television crew interview episode yes in ancient greece dont worry about it like u wish u had the range
Also had a lot of great fanfic worlds to play in: canon, conqueror, Mel & Janice, AU…all of which really were part of the show.

The Hot Wife and I celebrated our 27th/15th (together/married) anniversary last week. We still love each other and still have a lot of fun together. Funny to think we’ve been together so long. We’ve had our ups and downs over the years, but we’ve always worked through the hard times. We’ve been in a really good place for a while now and are both looking forward to retiring and having at least another 27 years of adventures together.
Got all dressed up on our anniversary and took my best gal to dinner. We’re definitely looking a lot older than we did in ‘99. She got me flowers and we exchanged cards and it was a good night. 🥂🎉❤️
Forgot to mention we first met playing softball - the Bay City Rollers t-shirt for that team - and the Disney t-shirt is from our honeymoon when we stayed at the Polynesian in Disney World.
Naw, she missed the Last Supper and is hungry….
Often it’s the little things that make me smile.
I’ve been quiet for awhile. Work is relentless, a bit sad last month missing my Dad (gone two years now) and my Uncle (gone six months now) and in general just in my head too much. The Hot Wife has been lovely and helped keep the darkness at bay. She’s visiting her sister this weekend and I stayed behind to cat sit for friends. Did some spring cleaning and found t- shirts from our adventures together. Softball team t-shirt from where it all began, we met at the first practice. I didn’t pick the name, but I designed the logo (view of the Harbor from Fed Hill), the t-shirts we got from completing the Edinburgh Ale Trail when we visited friends in the UK in 2007, and a t-shirt from 2011 from our honeymoon in Disney World when we stayed at the Polynesian. Mementos of good times.

Cemeteries are not wastes of space. Historical cemeteries ESPECIALLY are not wastes of space. The fact developers are continuously foaming at the mouth to destroy them and put a strip mall up in their place should make you even more determined to help maintain them. In urban areas, they are a haven for wildlife. They are a green space. If you are too afraid of death to utilize them for that purpose, that is on you.
Thank you. Historically cemeteries were treated as parks, and it wasn't uncommon to see people not only enjoying the grounds but actually playing games and having picnics there. Somewhere along the line we decided that these activities were inappropriate and that cemeteries were off limits and now people see them as wasted space because they feel too awkward to enjoy them.
They're not only beautiful green spaces but excellent public displays of history and art history, and if you care to look closely you can find out a lot just by studying stones.
For example- notice how few modern headstones are dedicated to young children versus the ones erected before vaccines were widespread.
The cemetery near here has the state's largest silver maple crowning its grounds. Many of the trees in older cemeteries are some of the largest and oldest trees in an area.
Cemeteries are for the living, not the dead. Enjoy them. Go birdwatching in them. Don't be stupid in them sure but don't be too afraid to touch them either.
And for the love of God don't mindlessly support turning them into parking lots and ""luxury"" condos.
Some cemeteries are supported by nonprofits that provide history tour to explain the above, provide information on famous and infamous residents, showcase funerary art (trends, symbolism), and show off their champion trees to gather revenue to support the massive cost of upkeep for the cemetery. Props to The Friends of Laurel Hill who also show horror movies in the cemetery and host a Market of the Macabre once a year. If you’re ever in Philly, hit up Laurel Hill cemetery.
Best Friday afternoon I’ve had in awhile. Just chilling in the backyard listening to the birds, the spring peepers & one of the Hot Wife’s playlists and reading & puzzling. She’s planting seeds and setting up the little greenhouse in the family room. - tomatillos, carrots, parsnips, peas, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, and herbs.
