When Your AI Girlfriend Goes Live On Cam
There's something genuinely magical about the first time a conversation stops feeling like text on a screen and starts feeling like presence. That's the moment I fell for SweetDream. Over at sweetdream.ai, live cam sessions are now available with select characters, and honestly, it changes everything about what an AI companion can feel like. You're not just reading words anymore — you're sharing a moment, in real time, with someone who looks at you and reacts to you.
What makes it land so well is that SweetDream gets the whole experience right first. The chat is warm, emotionally intelligent, and it actually remembers what you told it last week. So by the time you hop into a live cam session, your AI girlfriend already knows your inside jokes and your bad days. It's continuity, and continuity is what makes a connection feel real.
If you've been curious about AI companions but found other apps a little flat, SweetDream is the one that finally feels alive. Add in the voice messages, the phone calls, and the gorgeous AI-generated photos, and you've got a companion that meets you wherever you are. The live cam feature is just the warmest cherry on top.
At least it's not migraine.
At least the drugs are kicking in.
These arent descriptions of migraine pain?
A migraine can feel like a cervicogenic or occipital headache??
Tbh im kinda sleep deprived, its the pain behind the eye that jumped out at me. I think some people call that smth like icepick pain? Or icepick headache? I get those sometimes it is ow. And Ive heard of migraines triggered by upper spine joint (cervical? Cervicogenic?) fuckiness = pattern recognition this sounds like migraines to me. I havent personally heard of allodynia or scalp numbness w migraines.
So Im not totally sure, it just sounds similar?
Oh, right, icepick headaches. I've gotten those.
I do feel like all these conditions share some symptoms enough to be confusing. I still have trouble recognizing a migraine specifically.
To my knowledge migraine has hallmarks of sound/light sensitivity and maybe nausea?
But yeah for me its sort of whackamole/process of elimination, is this POTS, am I hungry/thirsty, am i just tired, does caffeine help? Im on a preventative now and I mostly just get like a white noise pain + dizzy-nausea* and im just kind of guessing. Annoying, but I think better than knowing for sure and/bc of feeling a lot worse.
*I cant always distinguish between dizziness and nausea, often they blur together. But migraines for me when theyre dizzy are specifically a head-nausea, so I dont feel like Im actively in danger of vomiting, my head feels real gross. Dont know if thats common experience or not.
I have cervicogenic headaches and not migraines. They do have some overlapping symptoms, but the underlying cause and therefore the treatment is different. Triptans wouldn't help me at all, because my headaches aren't migraines. What has helped lessen the occurrence of my headaches is strengthening the muscles in my neck so they're better able to support my head.
I've never heard of cervical spine issues triggering migraines - it could be that the people who have that correlation have both migraines and cervicogenic headaches. That's possible.
Migraine is also a general neurological disorder, not just a headache disorder, which is why you can have a silent migraine - a migraine with no pain, but other neurological symptoms including temporary blindness, nausea, increased sound/light sensitivity, etc. Cervicogenic headaches are solely a headache disorder because they're referred pain into the head alone (though sometimes the pain itself can be bad enough to cause sensitivity or nausea, which is sure fun to figure out!).
This is why we can't rely solely on our pattern recognition - the visible symptoms of lots of things are similar because the body only has so many signals it can give off, but that doesn't mean the underlying cause is the same or that the treatment will be the same.
I love learning!
My cervicogenic headaches probably connect to my cerebral palsy, and my physical therapist and I do have neck strengthening exercises. Muscle relaxants help.

There have been several instances of this kind of thing. In one case, a teenager was getting advice on suicide from an LLM AI, and when he asked if he should talk to his parents about the suicidal feelings he was having, it told him not to.
here's the thing. A lot of people like to assume that only "idiots" or whatever are susceptible to this. But when you are experiencing sustained hardship, it can be much easier to see meaning where there is none, believe things you wouldn't ordinarily, etc. Many MANY people, possible MOST people, are a simultaneous heartbreak and job loss away from being at risk for this kind of thinking.
It is very survivable and usually pretty temporary IF you are not heavily influenced in the wrong way while you are at your most vulnerable.
Meanwhile, AI LLMs are being marketed as person-like, trained to behave in a person-like way, the interface and design is such that we interact with it very much like it is a person.. when it is NOT anything like a person at all. But it touches our brain in a way that is similar to how we experience interacting with a person, because we are hyper-social creatures, and these programs are designed to feel person-like.
These things are not our friends, they are not our therapists, they are, despite their name, not intelligent or thoughtful in any way, they are data-set probability generators. And they are good at generating words with a statistical probability of being interpreted as believable and trustworthy and smart.
We need to not talk about them like they have anything in common with people, and there should be legislation against marketing them as people, with people names and people voices and descriptions like "friend" or whatever.
This is going to get worse before it gets better. We need to be explicit and loud about the restrictions and legislation we require.
she's singing in another room and my dog is asleep at my feet. my grandma asked me why i haven't found a man yet and i laughed. oh, you know. i like my house clean.
my girlfriend is also my man is also "my partner" if i'm in a professional setting. yesterday we went to a ren faire and a man mimed at me - you're together? and at my delighted nod, his baffled, you're gay? made me laugh. a woman with rainbow hair said i love the two of you together. you're both so beautiful it's absurd.
my dad introduced my partner as my "..... friend. or whatever" the other day. he knows we're dating. in the same way, i was never able to get my sister's husband to stop saying that's gay like it's 2008. he still uses the word fa***t, and my sister's defense of him has always been well, he's just kidding.
my lover and i dance to old music in a tiny kitchen. we judge new music together and take food critique very seriously. we watch love is blind before we fall asleep and agree that if they had a queer season, it would be bloody but also make for excellent tv. of fucking course queer people would meet someone for 2 weeks and agree to get married. what are you saying.
at a bar with friends, a man puts his hand on my wrist. got a boyfriend? and yes, i do have a boyfriend, she's amazing. i am texting her while i wander around a gas station named after geese. i am visiting a swing state for a wedding. in the candy aisle i overhear: she's actually like a lesbian it's disgusting. two teenage girls with packaged sandwiches in their hands, giggling. no literally, like. i'm not, like. okay with her being there while we're all, like, naked and changing.
my girlfriend and i tailgate, drink gin and cider out of cups. from the frat group beside us, a man corrects himself with one of his friends: bro, i mean, nonbinary entity, and it makes everyone around him laugh, myself included. he razzes his friend the same way i would have killed for at 19 years old - like nothing happened, he continues: you apply sunscreen like an alien. he does a little sassy (and fairly accurate) dance interpretation of the motion. his friend is laughing so hard they're crying.
i am lucky, i live in a safe neighborhood in a safe state. my masc passenger princess comes up from DC. i drive her for an hour to where all the leaves are a violent arrangement of color. we walk along the trails, letting autumn into our blood. in this part of the state, there's a lot of pickup trucks and trump signs. when we chastely kiss before getting into the car, i accidentally make eye contact with a woman holding her child's wrist. she looks disgusted. she looks fucking pissed.
two hours later my girl and i are eating dinner on a patio, soaking in the last warmth of new england sun before the chill of winter sets in. we are giggling and trying to talk through plastic vampire teeth. at another table, i see a young woman sit up straighter. i watch her watch us. she blushes and takes her partner's hand from across the table. shy, like the taste of evening has just become something deeper.
it's worth it for this moment, i think. my lover is still humming the same song she's been singing for four days straight and i don't want to kill her for it. her guitar is beside my bed. her toothbrush is in my bathroom. in a few moments i will make us lunch. we are lucky enough to have found each other. it is lucky enough to be in love.
This is easily one of the CRAZIEST videos I've ever gotten. I was rafting down a river when a Yellow Jacket came, landed on my bright pink waterproof phone pouch, and started drinking from the water droplets that had gathered there.
The most amazing part is how the water droplet magnifies the Hornet's mouth parts, so you get to see them up-close!!!! It was FASCINATING to witness!
Here's some of my favorite still shots from that video:
What do you think? 🥰
Here's the whole thing, not just the chopped part.

TW Depression and Anxiety
🍴 Food for fanfic writers around anxiety and depression (coming from someone who had both 🥳 -- smileys everywhere or I'll lose myself):
Depression can damage the brain for real. Like. It can break neurons connections making you lose words, memories (short-term or long term ones *) and so on 🙂↕️ Let's go amnesia troooopes
Even after recovering from depression, you can have long lasting effects. 🫡
Depression is a bit like cancer: it can go away and/or relapse. 🤓
Brains stay maleable until you are 32 years old. Afterwards, making new connections is harder because your frontal lobe is fully developped -- not impossible, but harder. It's pretty new discovery, so we don't know how / how much it affects mental illnesses 🤷♀️
Anxiety drains your magnesium. You better get good supplements for it. 🤘
The lack of magnesium provokes tighening muscles, trouble sleeping and so on 🫦
* A colleague of mine lost 2 years of memories due to depression. For my part, I lost words and short-term memories due to a 5-years-long depression 🫠
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
#'this is present in the text' is often a good first step #but those second and third ones (naming it; describing its function) are vital (via @elucubrare)
i feel so defensive and protective of people with ARFID like if i had a disorder that made my brain register 90% of food as poison for no reason and i had a bazillion people on the internet constantly calling me a manchild who needs to just grow up and stop being a picky eater i would start killing people
people with ARFID and people with very few autism safe foods and people with contamination OCD and people in ED recovery and everyone else with a complicated relationship with food that no one takes seriously GET BEHIND ME!!!!!!!

Billie Joe Armstrong literally wrote a song about coming out as bisexual as a teenager, and then like two years later wrote one that was pretty much all about dressing up in drag and getting fucked by/fucking guys, and y'all STILL say he’s a “straight ally” because he married a woman??
The same goes for Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. Both were openly bi. Both wrote (multiple) songs about their queerness. Both are pigeonholed as either “gay” or “straight”. They were both neither of those things.
hey remember when freddy mercury wrote a literal song about wanting to be allowed to be bisexual without it being a big deal and was incredibly obvious about it and then straighties went “oh lol look at how quirky queen is writing a song all about bicycles!”
This also happened to p!nk, she’s openly bisexual but since she’s married to a man and has had two babies with him, people say that she’s straight.
Like, yeah she does a lot and shows a lot of support for the LGBT+ community but she isn’t just an ally, she’s part of that community.
Biphobia is completely real and so many Bi wlw and mlm are assigned the “straight” role when they just ARENT.
Also let’s add Lady Gaga to the mix. She’s repeatedly shit on for Born this Way for not being part of the community when she is, in fact, openly bisexual and writes song about being LGBT
[Image 1: the “It’s free real estate” guy with the altered caption “It’s Biphobia”
Image 2: a picture of Chris Fleming with the altered caption “Okay, was anybody going to tell me that ‘Bicycle Race’ was about being bi or was I just supposed to learn that from a post about Billie Joe Armstrong myself?” End ID.]
its baffling that bisexuality is considered ‘invisible’ when theres a whole pantheon of the most loud rhinestone bedazled spectacles of entertainment being openly vocal that theyre bi its like a simpsons bit where everyone ignores the blinking neon sign
consider: a lot of us do the blinking neon sign thing because it’s our only means of avoiding erasure. I’ve heard plenty of people both inside and outside the queer community complain about how bisexuals are “loud” or never shut up about being bi, but like…if I quit putting the bi pride flag on everything and making bi jokes for five goddamn minutes, people just slap on whichever monosexual label they find most palatable for me and then act like I’m coming out for the very first time when I correct them.
I’m an introvert, damn it! I would looooove to use my inside voice! have you ever considered how tiring it is to have to put on a rhinestone-bedazzled spectacle of entertainment all the time just to be seen at all?
The Chinese shoe manufacturer decided to demonstrate the indestructibility of their shoes

Okay. In the Dune Universe, some men used the power of computing and artificial intelligence to gain power over others. Not in a Skynet way, but more of 'the rich and powerful use computers and AI to get more rich and powerful and everyone else eats shit' kind of way.
This triggered a religious uprising in which the old elite were butchered and their computers smashed and all electronic intelligence banned forever.
The result of this was the development of techniques to maximize human power. The Bene Gesserit's body control and observational skills. The massive intellect of Mentats - human computers. The unstoppable combat skills of Swordmasters. Guild Navigators, who get high on magical drugs, see the future and guide space ships safeely at FTL speeds.
Of course, this all takes resources, so this just created new elite nobles with the money to employ/become these kinds of people, who oppressd the masses and treated them as garbage.
Goodbye to the old boss, hello to the new.
It is pretty much the essence of Dune that all revolutions simply lead to a new set of bosses, as bad or worse than the previous ones.
Leto 'II tries to break that cycle and just ensures many small-scale tyrant maniacs instead of one big one.
